How to get rid of muscle ache after workout?
I have been a bit lazy during the winter..but I have been working out every day now for over a week...I think today I overdid it with the 250 abdominals ( have been doing only 100 the prior days) and now my tummy aches I can't laugh.

Every day I have done 45 minutes cardio ( 5 miles) and my thighs are very sore today that I elevated the inclination to 5 %. What can I do to get rid of the ache? I took a Bufferin but it still hurts. Help!!! LOL

Keep working out....the worst thing you can do is stop. your muscles will catch up soon.
In the meantime..

lots of water
lots of stretching
and go to Max Muscle and get some high5 protein.

Drink 1 shake right after your workout for muscle recovery.

good luck!

Nothing you can do about it. The lactic acid in your muscles will be flushed away in time. But don't quit, as most people are prompted to do from the pain.

And start slower. Work your way up to 45 minutes. That's why it hurts so much right out of the gate.

Heh, let's hope you don't lol too much it may hurt. Using ice can help but I would recommend taking 1-2 rest days a week if you're serious, if not more. Take in lot's of protein (Whey works great ) after a workout as well.
Once you start working out more you should stop having muscle soreness, the first week or two is the worst. But other than occasional aches and pains exercise is great and I wish you good look into getting into good shape ;)

Actually, the way to relieve muscles aches is to prevent them from occurring. Try drinking Pedialyte, at least 8 oz before working out and then again after. Most people will tell you that it's for kids, but anyone can drink it. Some people say Gatorade works better, but it doesn't. Gatorade is mostly carbs and fast acting carbs at that. The effects of Gatorade will peak and fall very quickly. Pedialyte is more electrolyes than carbs. When your body gets dehydrated, the electrolyes are what you need, not fast acting carbs. Also, remember to drink plenty of water. Keep yourself hydrated!

Ice the areas that hurt. 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. Do that 3 or 4 times a day and you should be fine.

OK, old school of stretching prior to workouts has shown to increase muscle fatigue and has little to no benefit. New school is this:

You are getting a bit of "treppe" from your muscles. You have worked them in ways they aren't used to and they are tired. You need to add Potassium to your diet to prevent cramps, and protein to help reduce muscle fatigue. Also, work out no more than 5 days, no less than 3. Do not reduce what you are doing, but if you fall into the soreness, maintain your normal workout, but for a shorter period of time. Your muscles will have to adapt. Be careful with abs. You have to work up to that level. A little soreness is okay, but you put yourself at risk of injury. ONLY Motrin, not acetamenophen, and you can use a muscle rub at night. Heat and ice isn't going to help much at this point. That is for other types of muscle injuries, not what you are experiencing. Muscle rub is really to keep the muscle relaxed and it does a better job than direct heat from a pad.

Motrin is an anti-inflammatory. Aspirin and Tylenol will not help, as you have noticed.

You have to understand how your muscles work.
Whenever you work out, your muscles use oxygen (that's why you breathe stronger when you excercise) to combust (ignite) and produce energy, those little combustions cause damage to your muscles and then they regenerate stronger.
You can get rid of the pain by INMMEDIATLY (yeah, that's how it's spelled) applying ice or submerging your worked out muscles in really cold water after excercising. Eating proteins (which reconstruct your muscles) will also make the pain go away faster. If the pain persists the following days you can take a WARM bath.

But you know what they say: NO PAIN, NO GAIN.

PS: doing 250 abs is a bad, really bad exercise, they won't grow, doing so many of them will just encourage your body to loose wait to make the 250 abs easier. It's MUCH better to do 3 series of 30 of the slowest abs you can around the day, put weight in the back of your neck if 30 abs is too easy for you.

Strech, stretch, strech. Especially after you run take 25 minutes or as much time as you can spare if you're in a rush and just give attention to the muscles you've been working on. Stretching is so important, it can cut back on a lot of soreness that you'd feel the next day. The other stuff you're feeling could be a combination of just starting to work out again and doing too much too fast. When I'm feeling sore after a lot of running I'll take a Ibuprofen (I think the spelling on that's wrong) and that should take care of it. Heating pads and hot baths work great too. When you're in the bathtub you can massage your legs and stomach and other sore muscles to feel out the soreness.

I play football and work out a lot, drinks lots of room temperature water to flush out the lactic acid that builds in the muscles and makes the sore.

Eat a LOT of protein and carbs and get a very long nights sleep. This is your best bet, though you won't be 100% recovered.

You should soak in the tub, and tomorrow stretch out your legs and muscles. When you're sore, stretch, and you'll feel better.

Unless you have something stronger prescribed for you, you'll just have to take it easy. You must have jumped into the exercising too fast. Best to work your way up to this level first.

Enjoy that good pain. It means your muscle tissue is broken up but soon it will turn into a noticeable cut. I was hurting like that the first week, and now I could run 3 miles and go for more with no pain. It feels really good to have someone massage that area.

Do a bit of yoga or regular stretching. When I get the muscle ache from running or whatever else, I stretch at intervals during the day until it becomes numb again.

Always warm up and stretch before working out. After working out, you can try to take some pain relievers or icy-hot to help with the soreness.

One shud not overexercise if one has not done it for some time. Please continue, if necessary at reduced scale.

Eat well but only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. To have more satisfaction out of ur food, Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will also activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals. Do not go on fast or starvation diet.

Nothing other than water in between.

No special diet, call it by any name or program helps as one cannot adopt them on permanent basis. Diet pills are chemicals and per se bad and shud be avoided unless the doc considers it necessary looking at ur condition.

Take light exercises and brisk walks for 30 min.regularly preferably on empty stomach and twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time and hassle free.

Be patient and not in a hurry.

U cannot choose spots for reduction.

This schedule can be adopted on permanent basis to lead a healthy life and maintain weight.

yeah when you first start working out again after a long break of not working out you muscles will ache for at least a week even longer if you continue to work out. to help relieve the pain somewhat however, drink protein drinks so your muscles heal faster. also stretch before and after workouts, and in the morning to help your muscles out. if its really really bad you can take pain killers like Ibuprofen. also a hot bath will help soothe your muscles tension before going to bed or just whenever. but what i would recommend since you are just starting to work out again for the summer is to give your muscles a couple days rest before you start working out every day. to just jump into an excercise program and work out every week when prior you didn't work out at all is not a good idea. just start gradually like 4 days a week and then bring yourself to the point where you can work out every day but do let your muscles repair themselves otherwise you are doing more damage than good to them. anyway i wish you the best.
