If you want to be thin and can be so whilst still eating healthily, exercising regularly and feeling energetic and lively then why shouldn't you? Use this Body Mass Index Calculator to see how thin is too thin: http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/ At 5ft 4" weighing 8st you would be thin but within a healthy weight range for your height. Do remember that you are still within a slim and healthy range at 9st though. It's your choice.

well, a way of finding out is to work out your BMI (body mass index)
it sounds really geeky, but it will give you an estimation of if you are over weight for your height, underweight etc
find out how much you weigh in pounds..then..
BMI = weight / height squared
okay well i just did it for you .. you weigh 112 pounds and that means your BMI is 19.2 .. and thats a normal BMI. (see this website)
i know that sounds ssoo geeky and dosent help with how you feel about your appearence, but its a way to prove to yourself you are not overweight!!
if you keep losing weight, keep working out your BMI (body mass index) and when you start falling into the category of underweight, STOP!!!
hope that helped!! x

If you have to be dangerously thin to feel better about yourself, you probably have some serious self esteem problems.....seek help....friends and family would be happy to talk to you about it, if you'd be willing to listen. Good Luck
*In addition...diets are BAD....try living a healthy lifestyle (eating healthy, exercising regularly, not using drugs) instead, you'll be better in the end. With diets, you generally gain the weight back when you stop the diet. This is very unhealthy.

Congradulations on losing a stone, now you had reached your target weight, if I was you I would becareful. You say you feel ugly, it could be that you have a low self-esteem, to make yourself feel better accept the comments people say to you, be proud of yourself, you could get that extra feel good - perhaps gettin into new clothes and new hairdo but always accept people compliments about you. Don't go to far on your weight loss as it would just create health problems.

http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/magazine/interactive/bmi/index.aspx this shows your bmi height / weight ratio & whether or not this is healthy. again though, how think you look depends on your build & bne structure.
I can totally sympathise. I am 5ft 5in and had went up to 10 7 recently - I am back down at 9 10 & people are telling me I am getting too skinny looking. But I still feel that I could be doing with losing a bit more.
Be completely honest with yourself & be logical about it. What dress size are you wearing? What size are all your friends in?? I am in a 10, and nobody i know is wearing anything smaller than that, so I can't be huge, because I look at the girls wearing the same size & they aren't huge.
Are you doing exercise? Is it maybe more a case that you need to tone up rather than having to lose more weight? Check your local gym to see if they have a body pump class- this is great for toning & also burns quite a lot of kcals. It gives quick results. have a look at www.lesmills.com for more details
To be honest, I think to go down to 8 stones would be taking it a bit too far. I think if you feel losing another 2 or 3lbs would help that's ok, but I think to go to 8 stone might be too much.

8 stone is very low for your height.
A healthy weight is based on BMI which means Body Mass Index. The lowest is a BMI of 18.5 and the highest is a BMI of 24.9. Any weight within this range is considered healthy. Any where out of this range being under 18.5 or over 24.9 is considered unhealthy.
At your height your BMI would be 19.22 which is obviously at the lower end of the BMI range. So you are just about within the the range. Be very careful not to get to carried away. I am sure you look absolutely fine.

Do you know that you need to be consulting with your medical doctor before dieting and continue to consult with him while dieting?
Most women that are five feet tall should be between 105 and 110 pounds. You should be an additional 5 to 10 pounds for each additional inch in height. That means that 125 should be your lowest healthy weight, and if you lose much more that is not going to be good for your overall health.
The weight variation is based on your total body and bone structure and the amount of fat to muscle ratio your body is.
If people around you are saying that you are too thin, you are not looking healthy to them, and they are a better judge than you are, as everyone tends to be more critical of herself.
If you think you will feel better at a lighter weight, I would not take off more than a few more pounds, you are going to be adversely affecting your body if you lose much more than that.
You are showing the early signs of someone who is headed into an eating disorder and not be able to see what they really look like to others. You do not want to lose the ability to regulate your body temperature, or produce red blood cells, you will stop having your period and may not be able to have a child in the future if you lose too much more weight.
Please consult with your doctor before you get yourself into medical trouble with this dieting, this is a slippery slope you are on.
Good luck, be careful and have a Happy New Year.

'Diets' don't work. Healthy eating with exercise does. If you are eating more [healthy] food and exercising on a regular basis - and noticing your weight drop then you need to make sure you are losing fat and not muscle. If you look bony then you're losing both fat and muscle which is not good for you and you will need to eat more healthy food and exercise as described.

I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean by 10 st or 9st or 8st...I'm from Canada and we usually use pounds or kg...if people are telling you that you are too skinny now then maybe this is a sign that you have lost enough (or too much) weight...the best thing to do is see your Dr. and ask what is a healthy weight range for you...and there maybe a chance you have a distorted body image, which is when you perceive yourself to be much heavier that you actually are...that happens to MANY women and girls...you have to be careful about your health! Also, are you consuming enough calories and vitamins to have enough energy to get through your days? While you're waiting to see a Dr. you can go online and check your BMI (body mass index), there are lots of websites that can calculate it for you automatically (it's a ratio of your height and weight) and it will tell you if you're underweight or just right).....good luck and take good care of yourself!

Hi
The quick answer is when your BMI goes below 19 BUT the long answer is when you still want to lose weight when you are at the healthy weight for your height and build.
People - including people who love you - can see a big difference in your weight loss and it seems that the amount you have already lost over 5 months means you have been losing small and steady so that is good. These people probably think you are now just right. Lots of people find being 9st at your height to be just right for them.
There is no harm in continuing to lose small steady amounts while you are in the healthy weight range. I am a bit more worried that you feel so gross at the moment and think further weight loss is the answer. You have done REALLY well if you have achieved your current weight loss with healthy eating and exercise - you should focus on that. You are not gross - you are great! What was your target weight in the beginning? Do not keep reviewing that in a downward direction and keep eating healthy food with occasional indulgences to make life that bit more fun.
What you need to bear in mind is that some females are natural 8 st folk and sit there without diet or effort. If you diet down to that and then relax you will gain - the old yo-yo!
So my suggestion is see how you go at maintaining your weight when you reach the target you set. Dont get tempted to keep going, and well done.

I am not familiar with the term stone as it relates to weight or the abbreviaion st, at 5'4 you should weigh about 120 lbs, maybe a little more, but not much less.
If you are obsessed with body image, then the diet has gone too far. Seek help before it turns to an eating disorder. Work on your healthy self image.

I am 5'2" and 9st. and I am a size 8. And believe me honey I am thin
My worry with you is that when you lose another stone you will still feel the same way and want to lose more weight.
I think you have a more deep rooted problem than simply being overweight

You don't need to lose weight.
Don't diet!!!
You are obviously fine the way you are.
And if you diet, you'll keep doing it until you are dangerously underweight.
Don't diet!!

I think your current weight is perfect, but at the end of the day it's all about you feeling happy with yourself.
My advice is for you to just eat healthily and your body will maintain a consistant and normal level of body fat. Although, you don't need to lose anymore weight and have nothing to worry about. Stop "dieting", start eating healthy.

9ST=124 lbs US, right? If you're 5'4" this is not a bad weight, but I wouldn't call it underweight either. Sounds a like a healthy weight for someone your age and height. 8ST might be too thin.

I am 5'4" also. Unless your bones are jutting out, don't let anyone tell you that you are too skinny. However, eating a balanced diet and regular exercise are a must. Don't forsake good nutrition to lose weight. I have included a link that might help.
