Salt doesn't make you fat, though it can cause you to retain water. However, salt intake can lead to high blood pressure and exacerbate diabetes among other things.

It's just the high blood pressure. It absorbs water. It's not that it's "not good" for your diet. It is "not good" for your diet if you consume it in excess. You must have salt to live.
Eat all the salt you want until you are about 35. That's when you should start worrying about salt in your diet. Unless you're dumping heaping spoonfuls of salt onto everything you're eating, or unless you're eating nothing but junk food, you're fine.
Oh, and drink a lot of water. It's good for your skin, your digestive system, your whole body, and it will help you a little bit in keeping fit.

It doesn't make you fat, meaning it doesn't increase the amount of fat in your body, but yes, it does make you retain water in addition to the other health risks of excess sodium.

While salt does make food taste lots better - it causes a body to retain water. Water retention is not good for you but the good news is that water weight is the first weight you lose when you exercise.

Salt is good to use in moderation. Just don't use as much as a blow/puffer fish does, or you will just bloat and float, and so will your pressure!

Salt has an affect on how much water your body retains. You want water to cleanse, not to add to your body weight. Salt is bad for blood pressure and cholesterol and aids in being bloated. It does not necessarily have a direct affect on gaining pounds, but doesn't necessarily help you lose any.

It doesn't make you fat really, but it does tend to swell your body up because it holds more water it. That is why when you eat something high in salt you can gain a lot of weight when you put yourself on the scale, but once you flush out all that salt from your system you appear to have lost weight, you didn't really lose fat, just water.
