Well im on the weight watchers diet, and some of the foods are good and some are bad! lol
but about your exercise question, dont make it too hard, make it fun were you dont even realize your burning all those caleries.
Some people like to do DDR [dance dance revolution] they say they lose tons of weight from that.
Also swiming is a good exercise.
and if your somewere were you have a choice to take an elevator or stairs, take the stairs.
just the little things always help.
and if you like to sleep, well sleeping is good actually, because the more you sleep the less you will eat.
or you can drink lots of diet coke! lol
that keeps me awake.

hope i helped.

go to any search engine and enter bmr (basic metabolic rate) to calculate the minimum amount of calories you need to sustain normal bodily functions. Simply eat that number of calories do some basic exercises, (running may be tough at first but to see change , suck it up!). As for the hunger, if your determined to change you will push passed it. Your stomach will adjust eventually to only eating so much and you wont be as hungry all the time

I am so DISMAYED at some of the ill-informed answers you've gotten.

First of all, you don't tell someone who's 245 lbs to run or jog. That's not just stupid, it's quite possibly HARMFUL. Hun, do not jog or run. WALK.

If you can, get into a gym. Elliptical machines are THE best! (And they're fun too!) But they have little to no impact on your joints, so you can really work up a sweat and burn calories without hurting yourself.

You can also pick up a curves membership. They have a strength training program and all of their machines are safe for people who can't run or jog yet. Just make sure you get in some cardio too.

The last thing I have to say is that you shouldn't lose weight to please the public en Masse. You should lose weight because YOU want to look better, because YOU want to be healthier, because YOU want to. Not because of what everybody else thinks you should be.

I wish you the best of luck. Remember: walk - don't run, and it'll take awhile but don't give up.

Walking. Get a dog or volunteer at a shelter and walk the dogs there. It much easier to exercise for a purpose. Do start slow, if you keep up a Good walking routine pushing yourself a little harder every time you go out after 2 weeks it will be your favorite time of day! In 6 months who knows you may be jogging instead of walking ! Don't get down on yourself for not being able to go out and run a mile it takes conditioning and practice, even skinny people who start running get winded at first.
Seriously start with small goals and build from there. What ever exercise you do is good if it is more than you are doing now.
Also please stop drinking your calories stop drinking sodas, or any other sweet drink! Fake sugar is also no good please no diet soda it will make your body crave sugars!

As for your eating, eat slowly and leave your plate around for a while so that you can see how much you have eaten.try saying `i have eaten that much and i`m full` to yourself.
Make yourself busy so that you don`t think of food all the time.
Enjoy yourself through activity such as reading and dancing<dancing can also be one of your exercise routine>

DOn`t bother about other.I know it easy to say ,difficult to do.
but think can other make you healthy?do they offer any help?NO.all they do is to hurt your feeling.

one more thing -LOVE YOURSELF

Well, there is too much emphasis on exercise. You do NOT have to exercise so much. Just take a 2-3 mile walk around the block , or less one mile is great, 4 times per week at the time that is best for you. Exercise is over rated , but you must get a lifetime eating habit program started. That's the deal. Don't rush it. It took you a long time to get to 245 pounds and it will take you a long time to lose it. Just say to yourself this is the first day of the rest of my life and that I am not on a diet but I am changing the way I eat. Say to yourself, I am NOT gaining anymore weight and if I lose weight that is good but I am NOT gaining anymore. PERIOD>>>>> The first couple of weeks is the hardest and you will not be encouraged until you lose some weight. If you are so hungry eat saltine crackers and drink water or those new 100 calorie, snack treats. You can put non fat yougurt on the crackers... Olives are a good snack. Chicken cup of soup also when starving. Please, just stick to your diet and cheat only when necessary like going out with friends or family and don't feel guilty. And omit something like desert, or eat only half the french fries, no before dinner bread. etc...Just omit something that is fat. You will be surprised that you will fall into a nice routine eating habit. It is not that hard and you will feel so good about yourself.. This is your new way of life. Forget aggressive exercise just take a walk. You will be surprised how good a walk is.. Good luck

Well, you're not alone there honey! I've struggled with my weight all my life. Yeah part of it is genetics, but, there are soooo many more variables that could be at the root of the problem. The first thing I would do is get a COMPLETE physical, everything including bloodwork for diabetes and a lipid panel, they'll check your Thyroid too. Rule out that it's not something inside. Make sure your doctor will work with you, if they're not supportive (yeah, it happened to me) find another one until you are comfortable. the easiest thing to start with is getting up, enjoy your cup of tea or coffee, then get ready for your day, getting showered, dressed, and even putting your shoes on! then, it will be that much easier to be ready if you go outside the house. Do you have a staircase inside? start there, then if you get winded, just sit down. Take it slow, you have to work up in baby steps. Weightwatchers is a good idea too, you can get extra support from them, and meet new friends! To take the weight off,and keep it off, you have to want it to do it. "lifestyle" change in the way we feel and deal with food & excersize is the key. If you mess up....just get back on it again. Failure is not falling, it is not getting up and trying again. Another good boost is to get a nice insulated water bottle/cup so you can have fresh water by you at all times. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Keep your chin up!

I was in a similar situation. I kept trying diets because I told myself I never had time to exercise. The diets never worked and then one day I just got so sick of being fat that I bought this work out DVD. It was Jillian Mishael's 30 Day shred. So I started doing it every day and it only took 20 mins. All you need is motivation. What gets me motivated is thinking of all the skinny friends I am jealous of. You just have to keep telling yourself you need to change so you can live life to its fullest. Start exercising and stay with it. I love to run and I am pretty fast but being fat slowed me down. I have incorporated exercising into daily life now and stl losing weight. You need to get motivated by exercise. Set goals for yourself and beat them. You have to drill it into your head "I can do this I can't give up." I think what works the most for me is wanting to be all that I can. I am pretty but beauty is hidden by fat and thats what changed me. If you can go buy a workout video, take it slow and keep pushing forward. Trust me even a little bit of work is an accomplishment. I hope this helps and good luck.

Good for you! Don't care what other people think though, just do what you think is best for you.

Since this is basically a start off point for you, try doing daily walks or something. Stretches are a good idea too

start by doing relatively easy things. Like dont look for the closest parking space and park in the back of the lot and walk more, avoid the elevator if only going up/down one level.

If you're hungry choose good things like fruits or veggies to snack on rather than a KFC snacker or something like that.

If you think about it, loosing weight comes down to just one thing. Burning more calories than you take in.

good luck!

My mom did Weight Watchers and she lost so much weight!

Good for you for trying to lose the pounds!
No matter what, stick with the plan, because it DOES work.
:)

I would start out by getting a personal trainer at a local cheap gym, I don't know where you live so I can't recommend any.

Or if they're too expensive for you start out on the PreCore Elyptical. Or you can start out walking on a tread mill. Any excercise is better then none!!!

If you have a dog, take it for walks twice a day, you'll both be happy!
Or walk with a friend, it really helps when someone is with you!
Ride your bike and explore your neighborhood, again, a friend helps!

Good Luck and good job!

Anything will do. if you just do something like go for a walk everyday you will find it gets easier every day. I used to be tired too but then you start working out and within a few weeks your energy levels rise and it becomes easier.

I think with weight watchers they really rewarded for being active. Things like hanging out the washing burns calories so I think you gets extra points if you do it.

Theres not an easy answer, it will take hard work but think of it as fun, set yourself goals and enjoy it.

Good Luck!!!

only eat when your hungry. drink plenty of water because it doesnt only keep you hydrated, but it also fills up the empty space in your stomach that keeps you feeling hungry.

start eating less, and if possible, better
then start with weights
dont start running or anything that might hurt your knees yet
wait until you lose some weight
and when you lose enough to safely work with your knees, lightly jog..run, play tennis
tennis is great because its fun AND you burn a LOT of calories

but with the weights
go to a gym
do everything that you can in the weightroom :D
keep away from the treadmill for now though
like i said, itll hurt your knees too much

Just walking. Walk at your own pace, no need to rush. It's said to be the best technique, and I know from experience it works. So everyday try to walk for AT LEAST half an hour and while doing weight watchers at the same time you'll lose really well. Walking will help your hips, legs, belly,, etc,, so it's good. Good luck!!--oh and walking outside is the best,, maybe chose a path that you will do everyday. Be sure to move your arms back and forth at the same time.

First of all congratulations on making the decision to lose the weight and making this healthy change ! I know where your coming from, I am 17 pounds away from losing 120 pounds. It's not an easy thing to do and takes alot of self control but keep yourself focused and if you should slip up and indulge at any point, don't throw the towel in (a common happening with those of us who enjoy eating and look for any reason to go back to old habits..)
As far as your excercise, don't try to start out jogging or even power walking. You have to work your body up to any form of exercise. Take it slow and realize that "any" exercise is a step in the right direction. Start out just going for a walk, doesn't have to be a long walk. Make them short walks then extend them little by little judging by how you feel. Listen to your body, if you tire, stop.
Go out again later and give it another try. When you see your stamina holding out better, lengthen the walk and when your feeling really good about it then add some speed to your walk. The important thing is just to do it.
Also, don't park near to the door to the store or near the door at work. Park away. If your in a store don't use escalators, use the stairs. Don't look for easy ways out of little forms of exercise, every bit counts, every bit takes the calories off.
Good luck to you !! Take it from one who knows all too well. You like myself will feel like a whole new and wonderful person when your done. Don't be hard on yourself during the process and don't rush it. You didn't gain the weight overnight and don't expect it to come off overnight. Praise yourself for each pound you lose. Weight Watchers is a wonderful supportive program, I know alot of people who have done well with it. You'll get the support you need and that too is so very important for success in any change in eating habit (refrain from using "diet", it has a negative effect on the fight you'll face with old eating habits.) You can do it !! Good luck !
