Why would eating ice make you fat?? if anything you would lose weight because your body would be using so much energy to keep your body at a warmer temperature. i actually read that once in i think it wasa readers digest back in like 1997. |

If it is just water and no sugar in it than it can actually help you to lose weight. There have been studies to show that ice water can help you to lose weight so chop on! |

There's no calories in water, unless you are drinking flavored water - then possibly. But if its just tap water, then zero calories. Drink away!!! |

Wendy got it right. If anything it will help with weight loss. Ice and extremely cold drinks do cause the body temp to get lowered a bit, so the energy the body spends to "reheat" itself does burn a few extra calories. You aren't going to lose hundreds of pounds because of this, but hey, every little bit helps. You have nothing to worry about as far as getting "fat" from eating ice. |

Eating ice doesn't make you fat - but it can cause problems. You can crack your teeth - for two reasons, because it's hard, and because it can freeze your teeth and pieces can break off. That said, there's something else about eating ice - if you crave it, you could have a nutritional deficiency. You could be anemic or something else. I would go to the doctor and have blood work done to make sure you're healthy. Good luck! |

look at the calories on the box. Burn more calories during the day than you consume and you will weigh less. Eat more calories than you burn and will weigh more. :) edit: um, I read wrong, I thought we were talking about ice cream. maybe your aunt has this same confusion. hehe. My second try: nope, ice is water. zero calories. |

No, that's just silly. Bur if you crave ice, you may have an iron deficiency. Worth checking into. |

Eating ice does not cause you to get fat. Ice is nothing but frozen water and we are now highly encouraged to drink as much water as possible for good health. |

Ice is only water, and water only goes through you and has zero fat involved. If you were to eat a lot of ice at once however, or drink a large amount of water you may become temporarily bloated ( water weight) but this will go away by the end of the day when you've had a nice big pee. |

I don't know why your aunt would tell you that ice makes you fat but your own common sense should have told you what the truth is. What is ice made of? Now you have your answer. |

No, it does not. Your aunt was probably just annoyed by that habit and wanted you to stop so she told you that. Ice is just frozen water, no calories, no carbs, no fats, nothing of nutritional value. Its like drinking water, you wont gain any weight or anything like that. I thought that was kind of obvious already though >_> |

As long as it is only ice and not ice cream it will not make you fat. I have heard that the compulsion to chew ice may be a sign of anemia. Get to the doc and get it checked out. Ice is only frozen water. |

wendy_da_goodlil_witch |
it might help you lose a bit because your body will burn calories to warm the ice to body temperature. it has no calories to make you gain any weight. you won't even gain water weight because it will help flush out water from your body. |

What?? Your aunt is a nut. Ice = frozen water. Water has no fat contents. Unless, you are eating frozen lard. |
