I think that it is definitely healthier. I am playing with the idea, I just don't know if I could do it whole hearted. I guess if I knew someone that was maybe it would be easier then I could ask questions and gain more insight.

Red meat is needed for various minerals and iron etc. so long as you don't over do the quantity it's OK. A good Sunday roast once a week is fine

It's not the meat, it's self, that hurts us it's the saturated fat that often comes with it. Meat, is generally good for us and I allways try to feed my family some. Tooooo much meat is another thing and yes, it's not too good for us.

Any diet in which you decrease your intake of saturated fats and cholesterol is a good thing. If you do go veggie, make sure that you are getting enough Calcium, iron, etc.
It is best to consult with a nutritionist before making any dramatic changes to your diet.

Since we are set up as both vegetable and meat eaters it only makes sense to have both in our diets.
Lean red meat is not harmful, its the fat that is, so you could realistically have red meat once a week and live to be 100.
Strict vegetarians cannot say that. They are prone to losing teeth at a young age due to calcuim defeciencies, bone loss, hair loss and many other *old people* problems.
The trick is to have the right amounts of all foods including some sweets in the diet in order for your body to work at its peak.
Fruits, nuts, seeds, tofu, legumes, meats, veg and dairy are what you need in order to maintain a healthy body and from that a healthy mind.

Well, although I do not think that eating red meat in moderation is a health risk, I do believe that you can get the same nutrition from non meat foods. A lot of it has to deal with eating particular foods together so that they combine in your stomach and create the effects meat would have, hence giving you the same benefits.

Vegetable is good for the health coz it makes look healthy and glowing; a case of for study is the Nazarites (John the Baptiser) , the three Hebrews (Shedrack, Mishark and Abednego)and they look healthy more than their counterparts who eats from the palatable table of the king.

there are several meats that are not red e.g. fish & chicken. the standard nutritional consumption of meat should not exceed 6oz per day. pork is also a chicken substitute but christianity (if applicable) prohibits pork consumption.

As lon as you include protein in your diet from nuts and legumes a vegan diet is not bad for you. You could try aq flexitarian diet that makes the diet focus on vegetables with a "side" of meat. Studies have shown that vegans and flexies have clearer arteries than their meat eating friends. I ont he other hand would have to go flex because I like meat too much

of course there is a chance to get something from red meat. but if it is fresh and from a clean, healthy store and properly cooked, it shouldnt bother you... I have ate it my whole life. But if youare a vegetarian, you are missing out on the nutrients in the meat. Soy meats aren't always better for you anyway..... they make girls have man features and boy girl features because of the additives they put in them

I believe that. We don't need meat realistically in our diets. It rots in our colons before we can Digest-It... how good for the body can that be?
I am a vegetarian and I feel a lot better for it.

For some vegetarianism is good. It works for some. It works for me! Some even go further and become a vegan! I see vegans as extremists! It's their choice though and their right! I tried veganism but found that too strict!
Vegetrianism was good for me cause when I was a meat eater meat was blocking my arteries and doctors couldn't figure out why I wasn't gaining weight.. One of my nicknames in in school was toothpick. I was often told "skinny skinny you can fit thru the crack of a kitchen door .. skinny ninny" they chanted that! but after I became vegetarian I gained weight. Most people have the reverse situation are fat from eating meat and lose when becoming vegetarians so some doctors say!

so many diseases can be attributed to what we eat. The closer we get back to God's original diet for mankind the better off we will all be. the one thing we need to remember is that we need to maintain a healthy balance in our diet. ie protein, vitamins etc...

Vegetarianism does so many things...it's easier on your digestive system - it's easier on your colon - it's easier on your heart- and it's easier on your mind, your thinking. The thing about red meat is that it is difficult for the body to digest and much of the beef that is consumed, at least in America, is pumped with a variety of drugs and hormones to get the cow to grow quicker than it would eating it's natural vegetation - it's solely about money. What the cow eats, you eat. Not only that, animals become very stressed out due to the ways that these huge, conglomerate-like processing companies raise and slaughter these animals. As you eat, you take on the stress of the animal. Literally, we are what we eat.
I know your question is not about fast food, per se, but there is an excellent book by Eric Schlosser(sp) named Fast Food Nation. There are a few chapters re: meat processing and the in-humane ways that meat is processed. It will broaden your perspective on what's really going on out here. Peace...

A healthy vegetarian diet is good for health. It doesnt do any good to eat potato chips and refined sugar as a part of ANY diet. Vegetarians that eat right tend to get more of the nutrients human beings need from veggies, fruit and whole grains.

Not eating red meat and becoming a vegetarian are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.
There are lots of foods that are not vegetarian that are also not red meat.
Like eggs, milk, fish, chicken, pork, turkey, duck, poultry of other kinds, shellfish, dairy products, etc.
I rarely eat red meat, but I do eat lots of things that are definitely not vegetarian.
