Do I realistically have time to lose 18 pounds before October 1st?

No. Even if you ate nothing your body would go into starvation mode and your metabolism would shut down and you could have a heart attack. Be happy with the size you are. |

Yes you do you have to go on a very strict carb diet absolutely no carbs what so ever and also drink lots of water. |

Yes, you can. Try Rosemary Conley's GI Jeans diet and exercise plan. Available on-line/book/dvd/video. Good luck. |

Reallistically you can lose 1 pound per week. So if you really push it and lose 1.5, that is about 16 pounds. Run, run, run! Cut carbs and fat, up your water intake. (minimum should be 8 already) Lots of raw spinach. Cabbage soup will get rid of some water weight. Maybe do that the last week of your diet. The more you eat of it, the more you lose. You can find recipe through google. |

yeah, but it's not healthy. You could by Feb. or March maybe. Eventually you may gain all of that back and more, but I dunno. |

This depends on your body weight. This is alot to lose if you're say, only 130 pounds. But if you're 200 pounds, you can certainly lose this weight. Heres all you need to know: 1) Excersize 4 days a week. i'm not talking about walking. I'm talking about stairmaster, jogging, weights, eliptical trainer (great on the knees). This is KEY to your success. 2) No eating out. AT ALL. Even things that seem healthy at restaurants are usually cooked in horrible oils, and are very high calorie. 3) Eat as much as you want. As long as what you want is fruits an vegetables. Cut out all red meat, 4) Disconnect your TV cable. This is FORCE you to do other things in your spare time. Go for a walk! Go play mini-golf with your friends. In fact, try to spend the least amount of time at the house as possible, and make sure you bring healthy snacks with you. All in all, this program is simple, and will get you up and moving. GOOD LUCK! Its that simple. Go for it! |

If you are really 18 pounds above a middle level BMI and are in good health you can lose that much in that time. Use a 1200 cal. Diet and a good deal of exercise. However I have my doubts that you are really 18 pounds overweight. Most people who think in terms of that small a weight change do not have a real weight problem. Also keep in mind that with that sudden a weight loss that you have to keep a balanced diet with a good fluid intake to go with the exercise. A generic Multivitamin a day would be a good idea. Also be aware that folks who lose weight quickly tend to gain it right back |

Yes, it's possible. However, you have to have a game plan, Stay away from whites, etc..rice, bread. Eat alot of veggies and excersise daily, like 30 mins or 1 hour a day. Drink lots of water, stay away from drinks. Don't eat after 7PM, and if you get a sweet tooth pick up some fresh fruits to resolve the cravings were human and everyone gets a sweet tooth every now and then. Even try suger free jello or suger free popsicles. Your main thing is reducing your carbo intake and gaining more protein like fish, etc. You can do it. I'm a living witness, since I've moved to California 8 months ago I've lost weight with just walking alone and when I took out alot of junk food out my habits. I began losing alot of weight. I bake all my meats and steam all my veggies. Good Luck |

Yes, it's possible and at not all unrealistic, provided you don't go on a harmful crash diet. Eat 6 small, healthy meals a days with low to no salt, drink lots of water and exercise, the best type is walking or jogging in place. Avoid fatty high calorie foods/drinks, use low fat milk, eat only lean meats and lots of fresh veggies and fruit. Good luck, wishing you all the best. An apple or two, with the skin, for breakfast is filling and better than coffee or tea as a pick me up, until you've reached your desired weight you should also stay away from caffeine. Stay healthy and you can lost up to 5 pounds a week. |

I believe you could if you really want to. I see with some exercises every day you will lose it. Also if you can start to stop eating the dinner I am sure you will lose more than18 pounds. |

It all depends on how big you are to start.... If your almost pushing 200 then that shouldn't be a problem with the right diet and exercise. |

I suppose you could but it would be unhealthy as the SUDDEN weight loss will be a shock to your system and it will be harder to keep off as you body will be deprived of nutrients. |

Optimal weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week (not per month as someone else said). If you go on a reasonable 1200 calorie diet and increase your exercise to 1 hour 3x/week of continuous aerobic exercise (like biking, hiking, walking, jogging) plus 1 hour 3x/wk of general exercise (badmitten, volleyball, general calisthenics, etc) then you could very realistically lose 18 pounds in 9 weeks...and no, you wouldn't have flabby skin. |

Yes I would thing so, if you work hard and keep with it. |

Absolutely, considering you have that much to lose. Cut out the sweets, and run/walk/jog 3 to 5 miles a day. EVERY day. You can do it. Find a friend to walk with or even a dog, but do it EVERY day. Good luck! |

Try Fat Flush Plan by Anne Glitterman....if you follow it for 2 weeks and DO IT you should lose about 12 lbs...and eat healthy as well |

It is and then it isn't. It depends on the type of body you have, some people lose weight faster then others and still are healthy. But usely it's only healthy to lose 5 pounds a month at tops. Here's a good website for food, nutrition, and workout's to help out. www.prevention.com It's a good webiste. |

I would suggest a cleansing diet. I did this and lost 11 pounds and 16 inches in 9 days. I like the program since it works by giving your body nutrition through protein shakes with digestive Enzymes and vitamins and then cleansing out the toxins. We get toxins in our bodies from pesticides, preservatives, water, pollution, medications, food additives etc…. These toxins enter our bodies and get coated with fat. To remove the extra fat, we need to get rid of the toxins through cleansing. The program also has a natural diet pill to help your metabolism and curb cravings. It works and it works fast. I lost 30 pounds in 5 weeks and I feel great. My skin has improved as well from the cleansing. You can get more info at this toll free number 1-877-587-4647. I think cleansing is really important to health and weight loss. Give it a try and good luck! |

You absolutely do. Here is some advice. Weigh yourself in the morning. Don't eat anything and then weigh yourself the following morning. You will see that you are 2 pounds lighter than you were the day before. This is because your body is eating itself. Dont eat and watch the pounds fly off. Me personally. I have a cup of water for breakfast, no lunch and eat one plate of dinner before 7pm. I have a 2 hour work out for desert which consists of a 45 minute run and 1hr 15min of weight lifting. I lost 22 pounds in 3 months. |

The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better: *1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm Get an online, desktop, or cell phone diet and fitness calculator. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities. Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight: Adults: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm Teens/Children: http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/exercise/weight/bmi.html It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. Here are two articles on how to break through a weight loss plateau: http://www.webmd.com/content/article/86/99147.htm http://www.webmd.com/content/pages/18/102117.htm *2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement. Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs: http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/carbohydrates.html The following are food pyramids and several articles on what you should eat everyday: Food Pyramids: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d http://www.mypyramid.gov/ Antioxidant Superstars - Vegetables and Beans: http://www.webmd.com/content/article/104/107638.html Antioxidant Loaded Fruits: http://www.webmd.com/content/article/104/107640.html Good Carbs Mean Better Weight: http://www.webmd.com/content/article/100/105783.htm The Benefits of Protein: http://www.webmd.com/content/article/85/98824.htm Some Fats Are Good For You: http://www.webmd.com/content/article/49/40075.htm Antioxidants in Green and Black Tea: http://www.webmd.com/content/article/104/107641.html What You Should Eat Daily: http://www.oprah.com/health/yourbody/slide/slide_yourbody_healthfood_201.jhtml Best Foods to Fight off Disease and Keep You Healthy: http://www.oprah.com/health/yourbody/slide/slide_yourbody_healthfood_101.jhtml *3) Perform cardiovascular, core, and/or strength training on most days. Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure you're doing all exercises correctly. The following is a website and numerous articles on cardiovascular, core, and strength training: Exercise Prescription on the Net http://www.exrx.net/ Starting an Exercise Program: http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/activity/startexercise.htm Strength Training Basics: http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/activity/trainbasics.htm Cardiovascular Machine Workouts: http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/activity/cardiowork.htm Balance Your Way to a Stronger Body: http://www.webmd.com/content/article/64/72314.htm Understanding Your Training Heart Rate: http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/activity/thr.htm Exercise Errors: http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/activity/errors.htm Getting a Flat Stomach: http://www.webmd.com/content/article/71/81365.htm Weight Lifting - Does Order Matter: http://www.webmd.com/content/article/80/96440.htm Encouraging Exercise in Your Kids: http://www.webmd.com/content/article/95/103524.htm Strength Training Safe and Effective for Kids: http://www.webmd.com/content/article/32/1728_81005.htm *4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety. *5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A reputable test you can take to measure your biological age is at http://realage.com Look at all areas where you can enhance your health. For example, make improvements in the quality of the air you breathe. Review outdoor air quality forecasts where you live and get an indoor air purifier.
