Craving junk food - what to do?
I'm one of those people that eat when they get bored, and sometimes I just get a major urge to go eat everything in the kitchen. Chips, coke, candy. You get it.

What am I supposed to do when I really want to eat junk food?

Eat or drink something healthier than junk food.
Then go see your doctor, as you are looking at having some problems(physical, mental,emottional) down the road, as you may have an eating disorder.

Just eatt itt...if its a craving but make sure you dont take it to far limit yourself, and make sure your doing regular exercise because all thiss junk eating will soo catch up to yur thighs!

I eat carrots because I like crunchy stuff and apples for sweets. The good thing about these two things is they are like 0 calories.

Well, I think denying yourself what you are craving is wrong. It only makes you indulge more when you finally do break down. Allow yourself just a small portion of whatever it is you're wanting so you don't get all crazy and pig out. The trick is to enjoy it slowly.

Also, scientist have found that if you condition yourself not to eat in front of the TV, you actually eat less.

First, try to find something more fun to do. Go out for a walk or bike ride, anything.

Second try to find low cal substitutes for your cravings. Dill pickle spears a great substitute for chips and a cup of herbal tea can very comforting.

Remember to tell yourself, "I deserve to be thin." Instead of, "I deserve this piece of cake."

forsomeone in your situation substitutuions work best. for example rice cake chips taste just like carmel corn, edys ice cream makes no sugar added variations of frozen treats, baked chips instead of fried, frozen berries instead of candy ( very sweet) froven light and fit yogurt (3-4 hours for best results) tastes just like ice cream, i have tones of tricks

Find something else to do.
Drink a glass of water to fill you up then go for a jog or do a crossword puzzle or something. Anything to keep your mind or body going instead of sitting around dreaming about junk food.
You can try "disciplining" yourself every time you get a craving too. For instance, anytime you're craving junk food, you have to do the exercise you hate the most until you can't do it any longer. That might help.

I highly recommend taking a multi-vitamin Daily. I had the same problem, but after a week of taking vitamins I no longer get those serious cravings. Add a vitamin to a healthy lifestyle and your cravings will diminish. Of course, if you REALLY want something wait 10 minutes, and if you still want it have one serving, not the whole thing.

Many people (including me!) crave fast food. The way to either burn it off or stop, is just to keep exercising!

I have a few ideas-
•Drink water, sometimes you think you're hungry but you'r actually thirsty.
•Find something to do, you won't eat out of boredom.
•Eat some carrot sticks or cheese
•If you really, REALLY need to eat junk. Chose one piece of food, like a can of coke or a piece of candy and just eat it very, very slowly until you stop feeling hungry or have a proper meal.

Eat really sweet food that isn't that bad for you like grapes and juice and honey roasted pretzels and yogurt, stuff like that. It will fill you up and isn't near as bad as those other things.

That used to be a real problem for me too until I started eating things that tasted nice but were good for me, and now i wont even touch a packet of crisps with a barge pole.
I guesse really its how commited you are. Good luck

Eat a piece of fruit if you are craving something sweet or some baked potato chips or pretzels if you are craving something salty. Or give in to the temptation and just eat a small portion of what you are craving.

I totally understand and so i limit the junk food when I go shopping or buy the low fat, low sugar stuff which really doesn't taste that different (sometimes better).
There are also some fruits and veggies that are sweet too like carrotts and blueberries. I know I feel better being full up after pigging out of good stuff than on junk food.

Dont buy any and then if you need some then dont use a car, cycle or walk to the shop this will burn calories that the sweets give you.

Also go on things such as msn, bebo, my space etc. this will make you less bored and will stop the urge

I am eating strawberries right now, had the same urg, so I came out of the fridge with strawberries!
Also, don't keep that stuff in the house, or you will be really tempted at times like these!!

ohmygosh..this happens to me ALL the time..whenever i have no homework and want to watch t.v. i just always run to the kitchen to eat something...
i got two good ideas..
the first is to chew gum because everytime i do that i never eat anything..
or u can go on the computer on facebook or something like that just to keep u busy so u wont be tempted to eat..

try and not have so much junk food in the house. eat an apple, they are very filling. try and chew gum and drink juice/water a lot more, it will fill you up more and make you want to eat less.

Chew a piece of gum and try to do something with your hands, like sewing or reading, or just coloring in a book. It's because you hands are bored. Maybe go for a walk around the block instead of to the fridge.
