I gave up sugar, and white flour, and limit my salt intake and lost 40 pounds. All I drink is Propel water, and I'm very active. You should start out walking atleast a mile a day, gradually moving up to 2-3 miles a day, 3-4 times a week. You'll notice a difference in a few weeks!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

i love walking. it is the best i think, especially when you are starting out again. walking outside is better than walking on a treadmill, but either will work. try walking faster and faster until you are practically runnung, but don't run.

Running and swimming is a good start, but have a look at what you eat too!.. If you are training hard you could increase your protein intake and reduce fat, carbs, caffeine and sugar.. Combined with regular excercise of any sort this will make the weight fall off. Dont under nourish yourself though. Try 5 small meals a day instead of 3. Any excercise that makes you sweat for half an hour is excellent and drink lots of water.

I started jogging a few years back and lost a ton of weight. Unfortunately I did not run in the last 18 months and the weight has piled on. This time I alternate between walking and running. I can run/jog for about 30 mins. Once again I am beginning to see the benefits in weight loss.

you sound like me, i used to play basketball in high school, i graduated @ 17 and at about 20/21 i started gaining a little weight, and it just slowly added, not too much, just not me,
i started doing yoga for beginners and walking/jogging, alternating days of each, also, when i take my breaks at work i go for a walk instead of sitting in the break room.

I lost alot of weight jumping on a mini-trampoline. It involves the whole body (aerobic) and gets your heart rate up for a while which is necessary to burn fat and calories.

Walk. It's free. It's good for you. You can do it (almost) any time and any place. You can do it at your own pace. People don't even have to know you're exercizing. You can do it while you have other things to do, like shopping etc.
And it saves the environment.
All good. No bad!

The best thing you can do for weight loss is cardiovascular exercises. Depending on how bad a shape your in; you could start walking every morning or evening for thirty minutes. Try and gradually increase your pace so that your burning more calories, but start slow. If you jump into it and make yourself sore; your likely not to want to continue. Regardless of what kind of exercise you do; diet has everything to do with weight loss. Just go to the gym and notice how many fat people are there working out. They huh and they puff, and then they stop at McDonald's on their way home. All their good intentions washed away in a flurry of fat and cholesterol. Probably the best exercise advise is an old adage: Do push-aways. That's where when you sitting at the table thinking about a second helping, or nice slice of pie; you apply pressure on the edge of the table, push away and leave............

Start easy and work your way up.
Join a gym so you have lots of options. Walking is great. Again slow.....Once a speed gets easy, start to go a little faster.
Weight training would be good for toneing. Again, start light and work your way up.
Good luck!

Try a mixture of something cardio, like jogging, with something a bit calmer, like yoga. Also, swimming is excellent as its the only sport to exercise your whole body in one go. If you do a mixture of things its likely to keep you interested for longer and stop you getting bored.

i would suggest a combination of walking (or some other cardiovascular exercise) 3-4 days a week and another type of activity that builds muscle 3 days a week--yoga works. or weights if you have access to them. walk at a pace that elevates your heart rate.
the cardio will burn calories. and building muscle will tone your body and make it appear slimmer faster.
also, i have found that if i write down everything i eat while i am trying to get in shape i can see when i might be eating more than i think i am. but, don't restrict your calories too much or you will mess with your metabolism and get "stuck".
finally, get a body fat scale. Tanita makes good ones. body fat composition is more important than weight alone.
good luck!

I would agree with the swimming as it use all your muscles and has the water for buoyancy, start slowly and as time goes on then build up you will find it will tone and the endorphins will make you feel great.
Other wonderful exercise is walking maybe getting off the bus at a stop before you own then walking to your office, going out on the weekends with friends or a partner walking somewhere this will help keep your bones healthy and is good cardio vascular.
What about Pilate's I have become hooked and in a period of six weeks I can see a difference and it works wonders for your stomach!
What ever exercise you choose make sure it is one you enjoy as the worse thing is doing it and finding reasons not to continue. If the weight does not shift do not get despondent because it goes on quicker than coming off, just keep going and the results will appear.
Other thought a bike ride in good weather what a great way to move around and keep healthy.
Your eating sounds fine drink loads of water.
Just put your mind to it call it changing your life style and looking after your body for the future.
Good Luck
You can do it....
