Yes, you can be heavy and not have diabetes. I don't think obesity is the primary cause of diabetes.

Yes, it is possible, but they have a greater chance of getting it due to the obesity. Just tell 'em to ask their doctor because they know everything about that.

Yes, genetics has a key role in the development of diabetes but being overweight predisposes you of acquiring the disease at a higher rate.

Of course. Or you could be normal weight or underweight and have it. Anyone can get it, especially if it is in your family.

Yes. I was. As a kid I was obese, but I never got diabetes. I had to be tested often though because I was at higher risk of developing it.
