Married to diabetic with low sex drive...will it ever get better?
HELP!! I recently married a 39yr old diabetic and is taking insulin shots. He discovered he had diabetes 4 yrs ago. We have been trying to conceive but only have intercourse 2 or 3 times a month.

I knew his sex drive was low before we go married and truthfully contemplated not marrying him for the vary reason. I don't know whether i can stay in this marriage if our sex life barely exist.

His sex drive has been almost nonexistent and is starting to impact our marriage. I'm very active and need more from him. Is it true that diabetics could have low sex drive and this will not change?

He is really good about sticking to his diet regimen, blood sugar 110 -130 and exercises regularly. His doctor has lowered his med dosage. But the sex is still status quo. I love him but am at the stage where I really want kids. At this rate, it does not look very promising. Will it ever get better?
Share and Enjoy!

Try buying a vibrator & maybe adopting a kid from another country. Why did you get married anyway? Was it because you wanted to have sex? That's stupid. There is more to marriage than sex. Not only that but, any woman can find tons of guys who want sex with no strings. If sex is all you want, you never should have gotten married. Have you ever thought of trying therapy?

You know that his sex drive was low before you get married. well, sex is not the most important in life. The most important is love. you need to look his qualities. If he loves you and take good care of you. I think that you should be satisfied. you say that you want to have kids. In some point kids give you happiness but if you don't have kids you have less problems.
Kids give you lot of problems. You need to work harder and they don't really care to much about you when they get married. Be smart Kids are not necessary to be happy. May be later you have one or two kids. Don't Destroy you marriage for nothing. Help your husband and love him the same way that he loves you.

I dont know the answer to your question, but I have had diabetes for 33 years, all on insulin, fairly good control, and I would have sex every day if , my wife would oblige. Maybe my wife should marry your husband and I should marry you, it would be a better set up as far as I know.

Perhaps you two should see a therapist together.
You will also want to see a doctor to figure out if this is a medical problem or not.

Good luck

yes unfortunately diabetics do have issues with ED(erectile dysfunction) both in men and women..maybe you can sit and talk with him, get some counseling..gosh i would hate to see a marriage end because of one's sex drive...try to be supportive im sure he's having a hard time dealing with this as well..just talk to him..good luck hun

Mr. Peachy®
That's up to him. If he learns all he can about proper nutrition, exercises even more, keeps his weight at or near "ideal" according to the BMI charts, and gets that blood sugar down to 70 to 100, he might get much of his libido and stamina back. I'm 56 and by following a blend of three diet plans (see below), daily exercise (walk or jog 5 to 7 miles a day), and keeping my weight at 166 (I'm 5'11"), my sex life is like it was 20 years ago.

poor sexual function is a bad consequence of diabetes. Diabetics have poor blood flow to the extremities which includes the penis. Chances are it won't get better.

i am a diabetic for over 26 years but i am a female. i know that my blood sugar levels has a lot of control on how much my sex drive works. if i am running high sugar i do not have a sex drive at all but as long as i keep check on it i seem to do OK.

my father got diabetes when he was 17 and he is 63 NOW. i know that he was impotent at the age of 45 but he went ti many doctors and tried a lot of different pills and even shots that he would have in inject into his penis. all of those things worked for a short amount of time.you need to get your husband to go to a urologist and talk about options they can try with him. my dad had a penis pump put in a few years ago and he and my mother said that was the best thing they ever tried. if you are trying to get pregnant i would say go and talk to your doctor. id i were you i would start a chart to know when you are most fertile and save those sexually encounters for those days.

best of luck to you and your husband. i know it is hard dealing with the side effects of diabetes but sex is not the most important thing. i have gone through a double organ transplant and a leg amputation and mu husband still loves me and has stuck by my side all the way. so be loving and patient and pray about it.3
