It all depends on your age, sex, and if you are a dibete? You are shooting for about a 100, but it all depends on those factors.

It's good. If you are diabetic then your medicine is working well for you. If you're not diabetic you're completely normal. If you have concerns or are on medication test again before bed. Your target range is 70-120. You don't want your sugar dropping below the 70 mark.

There are three types of results. 1. Fasting for 8hrs = less than 100mg/dl. 2. Normal random = less than 200mg/dl. and 3. Oral 1 hr after fasting = less than 140. So 86 seems good.

What only one person mentioned is the fact that "normal" usually depends on when you take it. If it's first thing in the morning before you've eaten, then it should be under 100. If it's been a couple of hours after you've eaten it should be under 200. One thing i've been told is that the more it varies throughout the day the closer you are to being diabetic.
I do know one thing that should make you feel better. At Christmastime I took my daughters meter (she's type 1) and took everyone's blood sugar for fun. All of my husband's family was in the mid 80's no matter when they ate last. Very stable blood sugar. So it's a good bet if you tested 86, whenever you tested, that you're okay :o)

I just noticed the second part. No, it's definitely not too low. 70 and under is too low, and that's for everyone no matter what their condition.
