Are you an adult onset diebetic? have you tried controling your diebeties with diet and exersize? How much glucose do you consume? You could just be really sensitve to insulin and depending on how much sugars you consume, it could be throwing off your whole endocrine system. My mother, sister and grandfather are all diebetics and im studying to be a nurse. I'm not saying im an expert but in my exprence i've found that If you take care of yourself then it is possable to cure and prevent your diebeties. Its the reason why im not a diebetic although i have a genetic dispositon.

Talk to your doctor. I think the pump would be a good thing and would like to have it for my son (19years old) but doctor doesn't want to put him on it until he is more in control and doing what he needs to be doing.

What is it about the lantus and humolog that you don't like? My son is on lantus and Novalog, but we're in the process of adjusting lantus. He says it burns, but it has been working better than the Novalog 70/30 twice a day was so far. Still not totally under control.

How old are you? Hang in there and keep on asking and looking. Make a list of questions when you go to your doctor and ask him don't just be passive about your treatment, your input is very helpful and I think makes doctors explain more so that you understand.

God Bless! :0)

Lantus and Humalog have "brother" medications that have a different name but work the same. However, if you want to work up to getting a pump you must use the lantus-Huma/Novalog system, since it is the closest system to how a pump works. At least that's what my doctor tells me. Talk to your doctor, they can tell you your options.

I agree, go ask a professional. Here you get to many wrong answers. Not for yahoo to decide. I have read so much misinformation on this site it's not funny.

You should ask a doctor.... my dad is diabetic too, and I'd be worried if he asked strangers for medical advice, medication is a serious issue here.

I'm a diabetic and I use lantus insulin and I like it more than the nph mainly because you only have to use it once a day every day at the same time.If you follow the instructions and stick to them it really is a good man made insulin. And as far as a insulin pump,I personally am not ready for a pump.

I would have to know what you don't like about these insulins. I have been on both since they came out in america. I have found that they work the best for my crazy lifestyle. Contact me and let me know the problem.

Insulin pumps are always an option. they are not for me but I know many who are quite happy with them.

insulin pumps improve your quality of life.u don't have to go thru the needle prick many times.well, there is only one company now in india, medtronic.if cost is not a problem, then u can go ahead.Go preferably to a institute which has experience in this stuff.

I was about to answer you question in full detail when I realized you asked another question about the pump and say you are getting the pump now :)! So without going into full detail about how well my husband has done with it and how it has changed his life for the better I'm going to say do it .. it's great for him and for our family. He has always done well with his diabetes but of course even those with the tightest of control have issues with highs and lows - he now does better than I ever thought possible. I hope you enjoy the pump, it may take a little getting use to but it is worth it. GOOD LUCK!

BTW ... if this person is on lantus and Humalog and is considering the pump it's a safe bet to say they are type I and if you can't realize that maybe you shouldn't be answering the question - diet and exercise will not control it, insulin is needed. I feel I am turning into a witch because I am so saddened my the horrible answers I see on here regarding diabetes.
