Yes a lot of times the doc will keep them on at least one med while on insulin. My mother is having a lot of trouble with her sugar. She is taking two injections a day and medicine and is still high. It also depends if he is responding to the type of insulin he is on. But, after years of being a type 2, the pancreas can just really completely burn out, which is why they need insulin. But good luck, i hope he finds what works for him.

I take Glipizide only and my sugar is well under control. Individual people are different so Glipizide will not work for everyone. It works so well for me that I think my doctor will cut my dose in a few months the next time I see him.

Do not start back on the Glipizide until your doctor has given the ok. When blood sugar is high, the body does not make enough insulin. Glipizide works on the liver and does a different function. Your husband will have to adjust both his food intake and his insulin intake, as well as his physical activity.
Diabetes is a balancing act and a daily chore.
All the best!

Yes you can take them together and often times you do use a med and insulin together. You husband needs to be sure he eats a low carb high protein diet and has 3 meals a day and a high protein snack between each meal and before bed. He also needs to exercise every day.
