im 15 and i didnt want to be put to sleep either when i had mine removed. but i was dumb enuff to get each one removed separately. U totally have a choice about whether or not u get put to sleep. u need them out pretty quick just bc they are moving other teeth. my dentist when i have had mine removed he just use novacane. the pain wasnt bad it was a lot of pressure on my lower jaw. never been on laughing gas. more then likely they prolly could give you laughing gas

im getting my wisdom teeth out this friday.... im 17 too and still a little freaked out.... im getting iv sedation..... its just i dont want to have to hear all of whats going on... and if theres "complications" i dont want to know about it .... you can talk to your dentist and if it makes you feel better while your asleep... you can have a family member in the room with you ... so your not completly alone. good luck and hope all go's well

Personally, when I had all four of mine pulled, at once, I was put to sleep. The bottom left tooth was still attached to my jaw bone but no one knew until the dentist opened up my gum. (even x-rays didn't reveal it) The dentist had to cut into my jaw bone in order to remove the tooth. I have never been so glad to be asleep. Don't worry though this type of thing does not happen that often I am told. Remember, the wisdom teeth are probably the hardest teeth to extract due to the location inside of the mouth (as far back as they go) and their size. (big roots)

If your wisdom teeth are beginning to give you problems or are starting to come in, it is best to get them out ASAP. The longer you wait, the more the root will grow and therefore more pain and difficulty.

I wasn't put to sleep when I had mine taken out. I am still trying to figure out why people are put to sleep. It wasn't that bad. I was given novacaine and the twilight gas. Twilight gas is nice. It relaxes you and allows you to drift away from the task at hand.

Also, I had one side (upper and lower) taken out in two visits. That was so I could still chew on one side while the other starts to heal.

When I had mine pulled I just had some numbing agent and laughing gas. The laughing gas was fine. Most people get really giggly with it.

My son who is 17 needs to have his removed also as they are pushing his teeth together and making them crooked as well. The reason they want to put you to sleep is because they are not just pulling teeth... they have to cut those babies out and it's extremely painful. Maybe you should reconsider?

Mine came in at 18 but luckily for me I already had molars removed so they push anything together.. they actually made my teeth straighter

you do have the option, but being awake isn't the best option. no, they use more than Novocaine, when you go to your doctor they will give you all the information for the procedure, both awake and asleep.

its not haha....you will feel everything and be aware of whats going on....but you just wont care about it. You shouldnt feel sick when you wake up from it, I didnt. and I believe it is much better to be put under while this is gonig on....you dont want to be awake for the crunching and breaking of your teeth and the blood as they try to extract them from your gums..........

I had mine out when I was 16...

I had all four of mine pulled a few years back, I was 31. I was eating pizza that same night. I'm not sure if this is normal but I really felt almost zero discomfort.

You may not want to be put to sleep during the procedure but there is not way in He** that I would do on Novocaine. I don't even think your dentist will allow that.

Go with being put to sleep.

good luck.
