If you just got your braces on this morning, then unfortunately you will be hurting for the next two weeks or more, depending on how much you move your mouth. The metal edges will cut the insides of your cheeks and lips, and your teeth and jaw will be sore from the pressure. Eventually you will get used to it, and you won't feel them anymore, if you can't handle it until then, try orajel, Advil, for jaw pain: here is a reflexology you can do with your hand.
on your right hand spread fingers: pinch the flap of skin between your index and thumb and hold pressure on it for 10 minutes, your jaw pain should cease. Hope this helps!

it hurt me for around 5 days, i still actually have them on. as long as your using pain relievers, if your allowed then you should be fine. without em id say 2 weeks tops. when your mouth starts getting cut up by your braces, dont use the gels they gave you. eventually you will run out or stop using them and then it will hurt even more. just live with the pain for a while and it wont hurt anymore.

Lol in a week or two. They hurt like hell i have had braces on for 2 yrs now...take pain medicine. Every time you go to Orthodonist they tighten the braces and it will help every time and you will have to eat soft foods but the first time hurts the most....it will get better i feel your pain...just wait a week and it should be good but you should expect to feel fine tomorrow morning or the next morning probably next wednesday everything will be normal

It might take a day or two for the soreness to ebb. Advil or Tylenol will help. And then each time you go in to get them adjusted it will also be sore. Sorry! It sucks now, but you'll love it when they're done!

Stop listening to people who say it'll last upto 2 weeks!
Itt's only suppose to last about 2-4 days.. or lets say if its really bad.. a week.
So don't worry!
Rinse your mouth a few times with warm water[with salt in it] or take some Tylenol or Advil... the pain should stop but you'll still feel them sensitive/sore whatever...that feeling will only go away with the pain.
Good luckk! I'm 15 and also have braces.. =)

It doesn't take too long. The pain lessens every day. I've had mine for about 18 months now and usually when I get work done it takes a couple of days for the pain to go away if there is any but when I first got them on it took about a week for the discomfort to be fully gone. So not too long. The pain is the worst the first few days and then it's just uncomfortable. Even when it sucks, just think of the nice straight teeth you'll have when they're off!

Mine didn't hurt at all. But if you floss once it stops hurting, when you get your braces tightened, it doesn't hurt. I got mine tightened on Monday and my friend Douglas asked me did it hurt becasue he said for him it hurts a lot. And I told him no, and he asked me did I floss and I said yes and he said its beacause I floss. I don't know if thats true or not though.

In about 3 years, when you get them off.
No, just kidding. You just need to get used to them. Load up on the Ibuprofen...if they're poking you somewhere, get some of that wax stuff from your orthodontist. Every time you get them tightened your mouth is going to ache for the rest of the day.

When I had my braces, they hurt for a few days after I got them on, but the pain goes away within a week and you get used to them quickly. After awhile, it will feel like they are a part of your teeth, you won't even notice they are there. I know it's hard to believe right now, but while you're waiting, just eat pudding, ice cream, yogurt--soft things, rather than chewing, which causes more pain. If you have a heat-activated wire on the top or the bottom, eating cold foods will help take away the pain.

My dad is an orthodontist, and also MY orthodontist. When you first get your braces on, everything feels weird, espicially eating. The pain will soon go away. Its just that you have to get used to them. After every appointment the pain will proably last from about 1-2 days to a week. The first time is always the worst, though
Good luck! trust me, the pain will be worth it!
