take some Tylenol or Ibuprofen. if that doesn't help, try biting on something squishy... the pressure will feel good on your teeth. the pain will eventually go away! i hope you feel better!

it will always hurt after you get
them tightened unfortunately :(
if something is poking at the
inside of your mouth put a
ball of wax on it that helps a lot!
i have braces too it sucks but in
2 years we'll have beautiful teeth!

Try putting a warm pack on your jaw (I heat up one that's used for sinuses on my eyes in the microwave) and alternately lay my cheeks on it or hold it to my jaws. Take Motin to reduce the swelling and stick to soft foods for a day or two.

your orthodontist should have given u some wax, put that on your braces so it wont scratch your mouth. as for the pain itself, you should try any pain med. like Tylenol or Aleve. however, not 100% sure it will help. But in the long run, it will be worth the pain. :) good luck doll

not much you can do except take some Tylenol or Advil - it could hurt for a day, sometimes 2. that does help for me.
next time, you might want to take some pain Reliever just b4 your visit - that can help you avoid pain later.
good luck!

I know, it sucks. :( Mine hurt for about three days whenever I get mine tightened. One thing to do is periodically put slight pressure on your teeth by biting down. Do it while you're watching TV or reading a book or doing homework or whatever. Then your teeth get used to the pressure and the pain lessens. Pain medications, definitely, you can't get around it even if you want to! You need them! There is also Orajel that I think you can get at a Walgreens, otherwise ask your orthodontist for some. But that's really all you can do. Avoid chewing food, I usually have soup, oatmeal or rice. Sorry! It sucks! But it should only last a few days!

i feel ya i have braces too and i got my tightened and did they give you oriel gel? that numbs your mouth.I use it and it helps alot!!! but heads up if they did give it to you then it's in a small bottle, And also it is kinda gross and don't put it on your finger like i did it will numb your finger, use like a Cotton thing. I hope you start feeling better, but if you didn't get that then stick it out and i think you can go to target or some were like that to get it.

ouch! I hated that most of all when I had braces. Take a couple Advil (or Tylenol, --but Advil works best) if it is really bothering you. - If it continues, I'd call up your ortho because he could have over tightened them, which is something that happened to me, it sucks. If that's the case, then you just go back in and he'll take out the metal wire and redo it, a little looser.
--It's all well worth the pain in the end though, trust me! (Just wear your retainers, or you'll be back in for braces soon enough) !
Good Luck!

take two Advil. if that doesn't help after an hour take one more. repeat every 4 to 6 hours. if you let the pain get too bad it's harder to get under control...i wore them for 2 years, i feel your pain. Advil works better than tylenol
