depends!! if the ice is clean then is ok but if you chew so many ice cubes a day then it have and effect on your teeth soon or later... so you should chew something else if you feel like chewing!

If the ice is clean than it is perfectly fine, but it will cause a bad disease of the throat. I hope you know that ice is cold, and it is horrible to eat 50 ice cubes a day. Maybe 1 or 2?

Ice is good to chew on as long as it is crushed. That is how they allow it in the hospital.

I have never heard or seen anything that said it had any negative effects. It's just water, water's good for you, and hey if your teeth are up for it! (mine are WAY too sensitive).

yes it is bad for your teeth. your teeth can no handle the pressure of the hard ice cubes. it is really bad for any fillings (can cause them to pop out).

I know this because my mother gets told this every time she sees the dentist (see chews on ice also).

I do the same because I like the feeling, but not as much as you eat the ice. So, I heard it's a thing that people do when they're anemic. I also heard it's bad for the teeth. It might be a destresser for you as well. Because when I chew on ice, I'm usually anxious about the situation I'm in.

Honestly, it's not bad if you don't get sick. But if you have braces, I would stop eating the ice IMMEDIATELY because your braces will break due to the impact of your teeth on ice. Otherwise, it's not really bad, just don't get sick off of the ice!

It's just water! Unless drinking a lot of water is bad for you, then no!
You might want to be careful though because you could get that awful disease called "brain freeze!"

don't bite the big, thick ice cubes! they will make your teeth have cracks! if its that addicting, try smaller ones and don't bite as hard.

yes it is a bad thing to chew ice as much as u are chewing
the effects it have on ur teeth is tremendous
causing u 2 have an open bite. That mean, ur teeth will not close all the way down or together.. So what ever side ice u chew on the most will not close properly...
Are they sensitive when eating hot or cold foods.....?
take care of them teeth!!!

haha i do the same thing...i will literally go to restaurants or movie theatres and get separate cups of ice to chew on...but its not bad, unless you bite really hard on like a thick piece or something, then it may chip your tooth or something. my boyfriend makes fun of me bacause its supposed to mean you are sexually frustrated, i just love ice though...but ya, thats it, im in the same boat as you are!

Stop! Chewing on ice is horrible for your teeth! It causes microscopic cracks that allow staining to occur, bacteria into your teeth, and eventually breakage. Please, try straws or something.

Dr. Albert, DDS (UNITED STATES)
AS DR. SAM WISELY SAID, CHEWING ICE IS GOOD FOR DENTISTS.
WHY?
BECAUSE CHEWING ON ICE INEVITABLY BREAKS TEETH WHICH ARE SUBJECTED TO THERMAL AND PRESSURE STRESS THAT IS NOT NATURALLY OCCURRING.

It's good for your dentist's income, but bad for your teeth.

The thing is, for SOME reason, people have associated this ice-chewing habit with anemia. I would suggest that you ask your doctor to do a blood test for anemia.

Read down this page until you find "pica" mentioned:

That's pretty rough on your teeth; if you have any weak spots at all, sooner or later one will break. I suggest trying some sugar-free gum instead.
