My dentist told me every 6 months if it is frayed on the edges.
You should visit the dentist twice a year and get a new toothbrush twice a year to remind yourself.
Also ask your dentist which brush is best for you.
Some folks need a soft or hard brush.
Some need a short headed one or a long headed one...

They say every six months, but I personally buy one about every three months because I boil the tooth brushes to disinfect them and it wears them out faster.

u can buy many and keep them in your bathroom cabinet and then get one to use as and when you need.
and if you are asking how often should you get a new toothbrush to use, then its about 1 in 6 months.
