No, they don't numb your gums to put braces on.
The pain of having braces comes when they tighten them up and it's putting pressure on youir teeth. It usually hurts for about 3 or 4 days after they tighten them.

Nope, they didn't give a shot. It doesn't hurt, either! What REALLY does is when they get tightened. Ouch! But that usually goes away after about a day, maybe two.

nah man i didnt getta shot...it didnt hurt at all...all that happens is your mouth gets so dry putting em on....and dont like the teeth when they are doing it because the glue feels disghusting..it doesnt hurt at all putting them on but once you get them on your teeth will feel tightened which will make them hurt for about 3 days-1 week...good luck

No they just dry your mouth out so much so they can use this kind of glue to get the brackets on then heat it so they only stick to your teeth nothin else. The reason i know this is cause i have them myself. Hope everything goes fine for you.

it will suck for the first week, but then it only get annoying because you have to clean your teeth after eating all the time. It doesnt hurt to put them on, only the tighten, which only sucks a lil bit. youll do fine

There are no shots involved when you get braces.
Your teeth will be polished with pumice, first. Then the brackets will be placed on your teeth. After that, the wire will be applied. You wont feel anything up til this point. Then the bands are placed to hold the wire to the brackets. This is not painful, but can be a bit uncomfortable. You'll feel pressure.
You're teeth may feel funny for a few days, but you'll get used to it.

When you first get them on they don't really hurt, but like after 2 hours they will. The pain lasted me a week in a half to 2 weeks.

No. Novacaine (numbing stuff) is the stuff they give you when you have teeth pulled. The procedure to get praces on does not hurt at all. All they do is glue the brackets on your teeth. Afterwards your teeth will be sore, but just take some Ibuprofen to help the pain and eat soft foods for a few days. You'll feel better in about a week and when you get your braces off you'll have a gorgeous smile. =) Good luck

You won't need to be numbed when the braces are applied, and the only things you may need afterwards are Tylenol or Ibuprofen, wax, and some Oragel for the spots where the braces rub against the inside of your mouth.

Well, it doesn't hurt when they put them on you, just after a couple of hours. I didn't get numed.
My suggestion would be to take 2 motrins before you go in to get them on. Good luck! I just got mine off and lemme say, it's totally worth it when it's all over! :D

I had them years ago. I don't remember if they give you shots. The first few days were a little uncomfortable because they put spacers in between my teeth before they actually put the braces on. They were sore for a day or two when I got them adjusted. I don't remember much pain. You could always ask for gas if you are nervous. I went to my dentist today to get veneers on my top 10 teeth, (dark due to Tetracycline), but I changed my mind and got a bridge where a tooth is missing in the back. I thought that was a bit more uncomfortable than the braces.

Getting the braces on doesn't hurt, it's afterwards from two sources. First, from having devices pulling your teeth into the "correct" positions, and then from rubbing against the inside of your cheek. The cheek thing should stop after a few days/weeks, but everytime you get a stronger wire, your teeth are going to hurt. The actual putting on of the braces doesn't hurt at all, and you won't be numbed. The worst part about it? Honestly, it just tastes funny! Good luck!! Take good care of the braces and you can get them off faster!

it all depends on your ability to tolerate pain.
there are no shots involved
the orthodontist just puts cement on your teeth and place the brackets on. then puts the wire through and youre done :)
when i got braces
it hurted like half an hour after i got them on. took Tylenol and went to sleep and the next day i felt no more pain. and theres has been no pain since, even after adjustments.
the only thing is your teeth become sensitive and for me, i ate yogurt and pudding, and soup for two days after getting braces. other than that its been great. :)

No, it doesn`t hurt to get braces.
What hurts is when they get tightened. That makes
your mouth sore for a day because of the pressure
put on your teeth to move them.

when i got braces, i didn't receive a shot. it didn't even hurt when the dentist was putting the braces on. it's the aftermath that hurt. the constant tightening sensation was horrible, but after the first couple or days/weeks depending on the individual, the pain decreases. of course, whenever you go in to get your braces tightened, it'll start to hurt again for the first couple of days.

The orthodontist does not give you a shot to numb your gum. Take Tylenol before you go to the orthodontist, and after you leave the office, take the recommended dosage every 4-6 hours to keep pain down. It does hurt, but only for the first few days. You'll be fine(:
Best of luck to you.
