I had some teeth removed by a dentist - unfortunately we were playing rugby at the time and he did it with his left boot - it didn't hurt though - because he knocked me unconscious. - It really really hurt when I woke up.

If it's just a simple pull out, it won't hurt much. It won't hurt at all during the process, and afterwards you'd be given pain killer pills anyway.
But if it's a complicated pull out involving surgery, the aftermath could be quite painful with swollen gum etc. I have my wisdom teeth pulled out through surgery because they grew sideway - I can only say that I'm glad it's all over!
Good luck to you! When in pain, just remember this:
Everything will come to an end. So will your pain :).

they give you novacaine to kill the pain. Then it doesn't hurt at all. It is very sore after though. Don't be nervous.

The initial needle prick hurts a bit. Thereafter its completely painless until the effect of the injection wears off. It then hurts a bit but the doctor usually prescribes a painkiller pill for few days.
All in all, unless you develop an infection (which is rare), its just the initial needle prick that hurts the most.
Finally, my friend, pain is in the head. Distract your mind away from it and it will hurt a lot less. (It still does throb for a while, but if you worry a lot, it appears a lot worse than it actually is)
good luck

It hurts when it has no anesthesia or when the anesthesia wears off. It feels like a pair of hairs being pulled by the hand.
But the sweet part is that you have the license to eat ice cream, to alleviate the pain. :P

Getting a tooth pulled out by a qualified dentist does not hurt at all. However, if there's pain after the pull out you can take some pain killer. I had my premolar tooth in the upper jaw left pulled out few moths ago. As a precaution I took Percodan which I got online from http://www.pharmacyreviewer.com/pharmacy-reviews/all-pharmacy-reviews/pharma-energy/ Touch wood, there was no pain felt at all.

If you've got a good dentist or oral surgeon the procedure itself shouldn't be to awfully bad, but after the Novocaine wears off there is most likely going to be some pain. Take your pain meds and keep some ice on for awhile and things should be fine! Good Luck!!

It doesn't if the dentist gives you an injection of novocaine first. The only thing you feel is a pulling sensation. Just relax and you will be OK. I feel for you because all my life I was afraid of going to the dentist. However, I braved it all and have never regretted it. I was always told to swill my mouth out with warm, salt water afterwards for a couple of days in order to speed up healing. Worked for but maybe they have better solutions these days.

It should not hurt too much. The dentist will give u some local anesthetic, and he may even numb the area before injecting so that u don't feel the prick of the needle too. Your mouth may feel as if it is swollen and heavy, but it is just the numbness becoz of the dental anesthetic and it wears off after a few hours. Also, while pulling out the tooth, you may feel a bit of pressure and have the sensation of something snapping and being pulled out.. but no pain. If during the procedure u do feel a bit of pain, U can always let the dentist know so he will inject a little more of the anesthetic so u r comfortable. Also, the dentist will prescribe pain medication after the procedure, so that when the action of the anesthetic wears off, u can start on those. You should be fine in a day or 2. So don't worry at all and don't be nervous.

The actual extraction doesn't hurt. The only bit that hurts is the needle in the gums for the anaesthetics, then your mouth goes numb and all you can feel is pressure (which isn't that bad).
It's the couple of days after the extraction that you have to be careful about. When the anaesthetics wear off, you may need to take painkillers to keep the pain at bay. Ibuprofen is good as it helps reduce swelling as well (just be sure that you don't take it on an empty stomach or if you have problems with Ibuprofen). Try and keep food out of the socket in the gums where the teeth used to be (be wary to chew away from the side where the teeth were) and wash out with antiseptic Mouthwash regularly.
See your dentist if you have problems afterwards, but they should tell you all of this anyway before they pull your teeth out.
BTW, I've just had a wisdom tooth out last month and it went ok, though the wee dentist had to literally lever it out (and almost needed to put her foot against my head). What fun!

Don't worry about it...it doesn't hurt as bad as you would think. I have had my two front permanant teeth pulled due to a bike accident...and it hurt but not too much. What really hurts is getting root canals...but in your case i wouldn't worry about it...oh and if you can get it, ask your dentist for nos (laughing gas) that definately helps....a lot

Well...my mom's a dentist and I believe having a teeth pulled out does hurt. In my opinion only..harhar. Because it has nerves that when moved..then it's called stimulus. Automatically, you're brain reacts with whatever that is in connect to you(i.e. pinching you're skin). It will hurt. But...
There's a but..
But scientifically speaking...as my mom did.
At first, the dentist will give you anesthesia which will make you're gums/teeth(?) numb so that you wouldn't feel anything.
So in that case, you don't need to worry about anything because of the anesthesia.
