it hurts the few days after you get them because your teeth are getting used to them. but other than that they dont hurt.

Dont sweat it! The thought of getting braces is absolutely frightening, you will feel a discomfort as they are applied on, remember just to breathe and stay calm. If you put up a fight, you are only making it harder on your self. You will be in and out in a Giffy! Take good care of them, i recommend staying away from candy, hard foods, sugary, gooey foods that could damage brackets. The day of getting braces, eat soft foods, chicken noodle soup is all I ate! :D

It doesn't hurt to bad. It just feels like your teeth are tight after you have them on for 2 hours. Your mouth will be dry so make sure you drink water.

It really doesn't hurt. People might try to scare you, but they don't. I had mine put on 2 years ago and just got them off. The worst part about them is the impressions of your teeth they make.

Yes, they hurt and I would say from personal experience about a week. But after that your all good. just make sure you have a good supply of Aspirin or Tylenol. Braces may cause headaches. And keep soft food in stock cause you may not be able to chew on the tough stuff.

ok here is my personal experience-
braces dont hurt that badly right when they are put on. BUT about two hours later they start hurting like heck. This pain lasts maybe 2 days and Tylenol helps it go away. For maybe five days after you get braces stick to pretty soft food cuz it will probably still hurt to eat. This is just my own experience so maybe you will have better luck than i did.

Putting it bluntly yes they hurt, but more uncomfortable than hurt. It takes a while to get used to them and your teeth are really tender at first and every month when the wires are tightened.
I found using wax over the sharp wires would help the cuts and ulcers on the inside of my mouth. Nurofen or Panadol when they first go on and when the wires are tightened to help with pain was a god send. Thank god for painkillers being invented I cant imagine a world without them.
Choosing the right foods to eat can also help. I couldnt chew meat or hard foods. Keeping away from salty foods helped with the ulcers to. I think I remember living on soups, mash potoes, icecream, milo, milkshakes and bananas everytime my wires were tightened.
But all in all i would never go back. I even had to have teeth pulled out before they were put on and another operation after to help correct stuff. It was a long haul of an ordeal but worth it in the end. I remember getting them off and brushing my teeth for over an hour admiring my new smile.

It hurts after you get your braces on. Sometimes it helps to eat just soft things for a few days, like pudding, jello, etc. It helps because your mouth will be sore and it will hurt to chew and bite into things. They will hurt almost every single time you get your wires tightened. They are tightened each time to make the teeth go straighter. Once you get used to your braces, they will not hurt (until you get the wires changed), and you probably won't even notice that you have them anymore. Also, sometimes the orthodontist gives you a thing that is shaped like your mouth to bite on. Its like a flat, U-shaped piece of soft plastic to bite on. It really helps. They sometimes give you medicine to help with it too. Ibuprofen or Advil also helps with the pain. All the pain is worth the beautiful, straight teeth you get in the end. I hope I helped!

yeah, it hurts like mess for the first week or so, you'll want to eat mushy foods like apple sauce.
It doesn't hurt when they put them on at all, it doesn't start hurting until about an hour later. Then your mouth will be really sore because your teeth can't shift like they usually do.
just take some Tylenol right after you get your braces on, it'll help later.

When you go to the ortho, take an Advil so that when your done your teeth wont hurt that bad. Getting them on doesn't hurt at all unless they have to shape your teeth. They hurt after they come on up to about three days later. Eat soft foods, (Jello, ice cream, milkshakes, smoothies, etc), to help. And, if you are getting top braces, they don't hurt as much as bottoms do! Your teeth just ache a lot, and you can ignore it.

I have braces :P and when I got them put on, it wasn't too bad, except the really bad part was my jaw going numb after holding my mouth open forever! Afterwards, it hurt quite a bit, I hate to say. You can only eat like jello and mashed potatoes the first few days cause it hurts that bad. But the good thing is that you can take Advil or some painkiller like that to get rid of the pain in your gums for a while. Your orthodontist might give you something for the pain too.

its horrible it cuts up the inside of your lips and your lips get stuck to the braces and you have to get someone to cut some of your skin off its horrible if you want it to hurt less you should probably stick some marshmellows around your braces so they dont even go near your lips and dont even get me started on when you kiss someone

braces hurt for about three days after they are first put on or tightened becaus they are actually moving your teeth. It hurts pretty bad but you can take asprin or Advil to help. The first two days after they are put on or tightened i would stick to eating soup and soft foods such as applesauce to avoid causing your teeth extra pain. i found that even pizza was to hard to chew. Dont clench your teeth or put any unessasary pressure on them, take Advil, and try to breath through when it hurts really bad, Other then that there isnt much you can do about braces hurting except tolerate it...braces suck i know i had them but eventually they come off and its great

Do you mean train tracks? they are sore intially when they put they on basically cos your gums and side of mouth can get cut but this settles in days.
It isnt painful getting them tightened but the can be very sore for 2-3 days after. But its not unbearable. No pain no gain. GOt tracks on twice and would do it again if needs.
Oral hygiene is so so so important of you will have so many problems. e,g ulcers

When they're being put on - no.
afterwards - yes for about 3 days.
and then some when it gets stuck on the inside of your cheeks, lips, ect.
But believe me, it's worth it.

My daughter has braces, and yes it hurts when you get them put on and it hurts everytime you get them adjusted. But the pain isn't unbearable and it eases up as time goes on.
She has about 6 more weeks and she will get to have her braces taken off. We are all excited about that. No more trips to the orth!
My dumb answer response, if you would have allowed me to give one... would be... braces hurt bad when you get bit by someone wearing them.... it is really hard to get the wires out of your flesh. :> (couldn't resist... sorry! lol)

Well if you dont have a big mouth when they put the thing to leave your mouth open it could hurt. While they put them on it doesn't hurt at all. But maybe for a few days you'll have a bit of pain since your teeth are ajusting. Don't worry it's nothing to cry about :) If it hurts well eat ice cream haha or if it cuts buy the dental wax thing to put on the brakets (Y)

It feels like you're shoving a whole turkey in your mouth... without moving your teeth out of the way to let it in. Pills such as Aspirin can do the trick to make it stop hurting so much, but other than that, I guess you'll just have to deal with it. :)

They hurt the first week you get them on, I remember I couldnt even chew a grape without pain.
Once you get through the first week, and start eating solid foods...it gets tricky, because more food gets caught in your braces, but over time you get used to removing it quickly.
Also, I had monthly checkups, so my Orthodontist could tighten them and so once a month it would be sore.
Getting your braces off, doesn't hurt at all. The only thing is your lips get really chapped when the remove them. Once you finally have them off, I (I'm sure others did this) kept running my tongue over my teeth, because it felt really smooth and weird, its hard to explain.

ok well i got my braces put on a few weeks ago (top and bottom) and here is how i thought it felt
during- it felt a little uncomfortable but didnt hurt. the tounge holder was a little bit uncomfortable.
after- afterwards it hurt for a few hours. it will hurt for a few days. it will hurt when you chew but if you dont think of it too much it doesnt hurt too much.
heres how you can make it hurt less- you can ask the orthodontist what you can take to make it feel better. don't think about it the soreness too much. it kinda helps.
i hope i helped
