What could a small knot or lump on the lower right side(middle) of my neck be?

It doesen't hurt. But, it feels like my neck muscle and shoulder muscle does a little but, not bad at all. I have been doing heavy warehouse work for the last seven months. i've had the not for a month or two that i'm aware of. I haven't worked at the warehouse for about a month now. It's about the size of the tip of my little finger or smaller.

I believe your little knot to be just a little nymph node. You have them all through your body and they swell as sign of infection or as in your case exertion. Just apply warm compresses and refrain from heavy lifting, this should alleviate your problem.

SOunds like a ganglion cyst. Nothing major, but you might want to have it checked out... Chances of cancer, ya know. But dont freak out over it.... probably just a ganglion cyst. A lymph node wouldnt be hanging around for months on end, unless youre sick... Warehouse work is more likely to cause the cyst - did you hit yourself there with anything??

I'd try going to a dermatologist and having them look at it. I had a doctor tell me a knot on my back was skin cancer and it was just a twisted muscle. Have it checked out, though.

A TWIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Honestly, it could be nothing. It could even be a tense neck or maybe stress. It could be from lack of hygiene, or maybe even something more serious. No worries. I strongly suggest a doctor or the walk-in clinic. Don't listen to us losers on YahooAnswers, unless we show you a certificate stating that we're doctors. 99.9999 times out of ten, we're not going to have one.
cheers!
(p.s - and please see that doctor. Or a very good masseuse.)

it could be a cyst or it could be what i have, which is a lympe node made its way further up my neck when i was in a car wreck and got whiplash. my dr. says its perfectly fine, just got it checked 2 months ago. it will never go away, but if you are superfiscal, you can have it surgically removed. Its best ,t hough to get it looked at by your family dr. they can tell weather its a problem or not.

I am a doctor, my specialty is otolaryngology. Frankly one of the reasons I am addicted to Yahoo Answers is because so many responses on medical topics are volunteered. It is fascinating how many answers one gets!

My answer is that you MUST get this checked out. Here's why: a painless lump in your neck is considered cancer until PROVEN otherwise. It could be a lymph node...but a painless lymph node might have cancer in it. Infections (except for fungi and TB) cause lymph nodes to be painful. Most often, painless nodes are nothing, but you cannot afford to be wrong and just guess it to be fine. The neck has a lot of important structures/nerves/vessels in it and there isn't much room for tumors before they cause a lot of trouble.

Other possibilities include a Thyroid cyst/tumor, branchial cleft cyst or a normal structure. Neither I nor anyone else who is not examining you can tell you precisely what it is.

It is extremely unlikely it has anything to do with your work.

See an ENT doc, you might need some imaging (CT scan of the neck with contrast) and biopsy (fine needle aspiration).
