xoxodolphin	Chemotherapy is one form of a cancer treatment. Radiation is another. There is no 100% cure yet for cancer but with chemo and radiation chances of the cancer going into remition are better. thinkingtime	A surgeon told me that chemo and/or radiation after cancer surgery is like taking an antibiotic after an infected place is cleaned out. They suggest it for almost everyone, just in case. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

oncogenomics	If the cancer is the same cancer as 5 years ago, it sounds like it is now in stage 4 (distant metastasis). If new tumors are few and in "safe" areas of the body, they can be removed. Mets to the lung, liver and, brain are especially difficult to treat. The overall prognosis is not good. However, people have achieved long remissions again. As for the chemotherapy, if the tumors were removed with margins, the chemotherapy is used as a preventative measure against any cancer cells that may be in the body.
