Mom just diagnosed with breast cancer!!?
|
My mom was just diagnosed with breast cancer. She had a cancerous tumor in her breast and a cancerous tumor in her neck. Those two tumors were removed. Her one breast was also removed. The surgeon said the cancer started in the breast and spread into her arm pit and neck. What are her chances of surviving this??!! She has to start chemo as soon as she heals from her surgery. Anyone have advice or anything??

you have to find natural ways people,
there are people who have found things in nature that cure cancers, and its as simple as eating seeds or something everyday, and you wont lose your hair
chemo is something that goes by this, it will kill the cancer if it doesnt kill you first, doesnt it just seem completely unnatural and sick that you suddenly just lose your hair
i would google natural cure for breast cancer

hi my mum also has breast cancer but not as severe as your mum, my mums cancer was cut out and she is going through as course of radiation treatment she has to have it for three weeks it hasnt spread anywere so she is lucky, but i wouldnt worry to much as breast cancer is one of the many cancers they can treat she should have a breast care nurse that your mum can talk to about any problems even you can talk to her why not ask her as i had lots of questions to ask too or ask her doctor i take my mum for her treatment everyday in clatterbridge hospital and there are lots of people dealing with this too and you need to be positive and take one day at a time and hopfully she will pull through it i know how your feeling and the word cancer makes you think of death, try not to worry too much tho as your mum probably will be ok, i wish your mum and you all the luck in the world not that you will need it and if you dnt mind could you let me know how she gets on during her treatment thanx kate xx

The statistic is now 1 in 8 women will be affected by breast cancer or inflamatory breast disease. I, as well as a few of the other responders are those 1 in 8. Good new is most breast cancers are very treatable but a lot depends on the stage it is at diagnosis. Early detection and treatment are key, along with the previously mentioned POSITIVE ATTITUDE. I try to remember it's MY experince with cancer and NOT cancer's experience with ME.
Your mom will have good days and she will have bad days. Help her out as much as possible and be patient with her when she's just not feeling like herself. Hearing other womans stories can help her get an idea of what to expect, let her know she's not alone, and even sharing her story may be therapeutic. I found the website below and created my cancer webpage to let my friends and family know how I'm doing and I've read other womens stories to give me an idea, although every persom and every cancer is different, what I might expect. But yes, breast cancer, any cancer, sucks, but is treatable. I wish your mom and your family well.

Today the survival rate is much better than before. I also have breast cancer and am doing fine on chemo and also got my breast removed and glands. Just do what the doctor says and she will be fine. here are some websites your mom can contact for help. cancercare.org, y me.com, american cancer society. you can start with them and they will help your mom through this and she can get any information she needs from them. Tell your mom her attitute is 80 percent of recovery and if she has a good attitude through this she will heal faster and get stronger faster than someone who feels sorry for themselves. also tell her to walk daily as that will help her. and a good diet with cancer is also important and get the proper rest and if your mom does this she will do fine.

I have stage IV breast cancer and it went to my neck. They gave me radiation to the neck. I had a mastectomy and chemo in 2000. Now I am told I will always have it. I am taking my life a day at a time to get the most for the time that I have. I don't want to know specifics of the time I have left. I made arrangements for my burial, and took care of my finances for me and my family. I spend good time with my family and friends. You spend time with your mom, because you don't know how long it will be. She also might be very blue. Gradually as she comes to terms with this, she will cope better.

If the cancer spread to her lymph nodes then the cancer could go throughout the body. Starting chemo as soon as possible is good. Go with her to one of her appointments and see what goes on and ask the doctor questions. Sorry you have to go through this. Good Luck.

it depends on the person and what stage her cancer was in. i too have had breast cancer but i had chemo before surgery. the reason i chemo before surgery was to shrink the tumor. well they removed the whole breast and 9 lymph nodes under my arm. sounds as if maybe the same your mom has. my cancer has spread into my lymphatic system. i also had radiation and reconstructive surgery. there's no way that anyone even her oncologist will tell her how much time she has left they don't really know, they just work on numbers and case trials. did they get all the cancer? if so her chances are great. but if not, shes still not domed, I'm on hormone therapy to suppress my hormones and to keep the cancer from spreading. they have told me if i go 5 years the chances are very good. just be there for you mom, she will need all the support she can get especially when chemo starts. keep her spirits up and never let her think she wont beat this disease. i think mental attitude has alot to do with her recovery. god bless!

If the tumor in your mom’s neck was positive she would have a stage 3C breast cancer, this is a step above a stage 4 which is the worst stage. At this stage the 5-year survival rate is around 30%. However, how well she tolerates treatment and her attitude are big contributing factors and you can help her with those. Go with her to as many appointments as you can. When people are tired and do not feel well it is hard for them to take in everything the doctors say and 4 ears are much better than 2. Ask her doctors all the questions you want. They are used to it and they understand how important family support is to their patients. Good luck.
