cinqsou	Trip to the Dr. will ease your concerns. Sounds more like asthma, or alergies. Maybe something in your bed or pillows causing congestion. They say the instances of asthma amongst older people has really increased over the yrs. Rest easy & go see. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

vkb354	This could be a lot of things. Are you a smoker? How old are you? Are you coughing anything up? Green or yellow sputum could signify pneumonia. The symptoms you are describing could be something as mild as allergies, asthma, bronchitis or a chest cold or it could be as serious as emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or other lung disorders. If this has been coming on gradually and/or has lasted for quite some time (2-3 weeks) it's time to see your doctor. Be sure to tell your doctor your exact symptoms and how long you have been experiencing them so he/she can treat you properly. As scary as the end result can be leaving out details doesn't help you. Alex S	Nobody can answer your question without seeing you, so you do need to go get checked out by a doctor! But here are some thoughts that hopefully will reassure you. If it just popped up, then it's more likely to be an infection, a mild bronchitis that is easily treated by antibiotics. If it has come on gradually, then it could also be asthma. The chest pains could also be from muscles that are cramping / protesting from all the coughing! There are effective treatments for all of this, and it's much better to get it checked out by a doctor. Don't live in fear! It's probably something very simple! Was this answer helpful to you? ajayemm	If you're worried, I'd go to the doctor. It's probably just a chest infection that can be cured with antibiotics. Worse thing you can do is think the worse! I'm a smoker (due to quit) and have a bad chesty cough with similar symptoms, but I'm not thinking it's cancer! It does make you think twice about smoking though.
