Im only 14 and I have a brown spot on my vagina. I thought it might be a birth mark beacuse its somewhere thats hard to see but only noticed it recently. I don't go in the sun much. I have been sunburnt probably like 10 times in my life.

i have never sunbathed nude, only in a bikini.

:D beca	Yeah children are more likely than adults to get it but i only think you get it from getting sun burnt but unless you sun backed nude then yeah

hockey31	Yah. Children are more likely to get it than adults are. I don't think being sunburnt 10 times in your whole life will do that though. You would need way more sun exposure than that. It could just be a bruise or something if you just recently noticed it.

Paramedic Girl	Unless you sunbathe nude, then you have no concern about it being skin cancer. And yes, you can get skin cancer at your age. ALWAYS use at least 15 spf in the sun (even if you tan). Do see your doctor though. Anything abnormal or new on, in or around your genitals needs to be seen by a doctor.

Ziggy	for of: Answer 1: Yes answer 2: Without a check up (and if necessary a biopsy) there is no firm way of knowing what this is .... it could just be a mark, it could just be a mole, it could be something more .... keep an eye on whether it gets bigger, changes shape, the edges are 'ragged' rather than smoother, gets deeper, gets darker .... Answer 3: If you really are so worried about it - get checked out by a medical practitioner .... you are very young and your body is still growing and changing - marks can appear and disappear as we grow .... Lastly - you should be taking better care of your body and your skin ... at your age you should not have experienced sunburn 'probably like 10 times in my life'.... there are products out there and advice to help prevent this happening - take notice and listen .....

like waves of sweet fire	skin cancers aren't just from the sun.if its oddly shaped and lumpy and hairy might want to see a doc. if it bleeds etc see a skin doctor. it may be embarassing but could save your life. Just wait til you have to get a pap smear!

zrepmd	It is probably a mole and benign at that. However, do not be mislead; melanomas can arise in the vagina and rectal areas in people who have NEVER had sun exposure there. I say get it examined to be safe but rest assured the likelihood is it is benign. God bless, best wishes
