Well ulcers are caused by bacteria in the mouth which in your case may have developed when you were sick.
Best cure is sesame oil. It does not sting when you apply it and will clear it up in 1-2days. The only down factor is, its got an strange taste but once you come over that its great!

Your acid-alkaline balance is out of whack due to your illness and bad eating habits. To get alkaline--which we should be for optimum health--eat lots of fruits and veggies and things that are sour. Use only apple cider vinegar and olive oil (plus spices) for your salad dressings as cider vinegar helps get the alkaline balance back up (acid in=alkaline out.)

this is one sign of anemia. taking an iron pill daily will help a GREAT deal, but, if it's gotten to that point, (that your tongue is in such bad condition), then you MUST see a doctor because chances are, the rest of your organs are "shutting down" as well!

I had a friend who experienced the exact same thing. He got something called "steven-johnson" syndrome. He had to be hospitalized. Google it to see if you have all the symptoms. It's pretty bad...look into getting professional help asap.

Ulcers appear when you are rundown and often occur in people with a damaged immune system. They are most likely a result of your body becoming very low due to the fever, etc, you have been suffering.
Yes, you can use salt water - as hot as you can stand it - as a temporary solution but I would recommend going to your doctors as they can prescribe you something which looks like a little tube of paste which you put onto the ulcer at night before you go to bed. You leave it on all night and peel it off in the morning and hey presto, the ulcer is gone!
Good luck :)

you have had your immune system whacked about a bit lately ,ulcers seem to show up when this happens ,its like a stress indicator ,for temporary relief gargle with organic sea salt ,this will give you mouth and your immune system a little booster ,enough for you to get some decent soups into your system which in turn will start to revive your whole body , dont bother with anything thats going to make your mouth sting like bonjela because all your doing is getting little stress shocks to your mouth which in turn tell your body that somethings not right and thus prolongs the healing

I would recommend that you start eating again! A week of not eating or not eating properly is only going to aggravate the symptoms. Try eating home made soups which will be easy to digest and (provided you stick some veg in it) will up your vitamin intake too.
Take a daily supplement, drink lots of water and try to eat some fruit.
As the others have said, it may be worth a trip to your GP if symptoms don't improve.
Mouth ulcers are commonly associated with stress and being run down so take a little time out this weekend to recharge your batteries and look after yourself (what better excuse for wrapping yourself up in your duvet and watching TV?!)
Get well soon!

Usually a sign of being run down.
The only thing I have found to be of any use is "Corsodyl " Mouthwash, its about £3.25. Get the mint flavoured one as the "original" tastes rotten. Available at most chemists.

If you have been ill you will be more prone to mouth ulcers. Dehydration won't help.
Since you posted your question in the alternative medicine section I'll suggest an alternative remedy. Chammomile tea with honey will provide immediate relief and will also cure mouth ulcers and canker. It sounds as though you actually have canker.
You must drink though, anything soothing but try to have as much chammomile and honey as you can.

stress can cause ulcers but my sores were from eating acidly foods the best over the counter that relieves pain so you can eat kanka liquid i Had over a dozen at one time and lost weight i used to eat lemons w/ salt as you would apples and oranges now anytime i eat spicy foods i brush and rinse immediately after and it helps to start putting kanka the first feeling what one is about to open that will kill the virus and minimize the spread look in the drug stores for Mouthwash and use it after eating you will see a big difference also make sure you keep your mouth moist when it dries is what causes the cracking good luck
