Why do nurse aides work harder an make less money than R N's and doctors?

juliegallagher1977	I am a nurses' aide (children's hospital) and in school for nursing...Nurses have a heck of alot more responsibilty when it comes to meds, orders, etc. I am happy as my tech postion, but looking forward to being an RN as well. kattsia	Unfortunately, aides have to do more of the physical and less desireable work. However, nurses have more paperwork, responsibility, and accountability as well as more education - that's why they make more money. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

bigmikejones	The sad truth is Nurse's aids and LPNs (LVN's in some states) are on the low end of the scale with NA's being the ones to do many of the tasks like baths and changes of linen. The RN has at least two years of college and has a working knowledge of medications, anatomy and physiology and such to give good patient care. It doesn't take a whole team of college educated people to take care of one patient. Many times, one RN will have a couple of LPNs and several Aids working under them for say, 10-15 patients. As I heard one young lady state, " I ain't nothing but a glorified butt wiper so, I am gonna go to college and change that!!" She did, as a two year RN making more money, more respect, but lots more responsibility when it comes to the patients. honeypot0214	I was a nurse,s aide for about 15 years and they should get paid more for all the "crap" they take.They do a lot of things some nurses won't pitch in to help with.A good nurse will dig in with the aides and get the job done.I should know because my daughter is a well respected R.N.in florida and that is one reason why.In my years of being an aide I have been treated like something lower than whale s***.I have almost begged for help so I could get home to my children.So to the first answer you don,t have any idea what hard work is. Country girl	Doctors are in college and medical school for at least 12 years before they can get a license to practice medicine. RN"s are in college and training for from 2-4 years depending on if they have an Assosiate or Bachelors Degree before they can be licensed. Nurses Aides have less than 6 months training before they are certified. The amount of pay is determined by your level of education. hsiaofonglin	i been in nursing about 16 years, was nurse aides, then LVN, now 10 years RN experiance, believe me RN job is harder than nurses aides, if they can pay me same as RN and just want me to do nurses aides job, i would happy too. but they told me they need me to do management instead.
