cynicusprime	There is universal healthcare. It's mandated by law. Anyone who goes into an emergency room gets cared for. That's universal healthcare. What you mean is "universal health insurance" or coverage. It's just as ridiculous an idea as universal auto insurance, universal daycare, universal college tuition, and universal cell phone coverage. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

Larry T	Well, President Harry Truman advocated universal health care over 60 years ago. Democrats have had it included as a party platform plank since then. Remember that the Clintons also tried to implement universal health care. That mission was Hilary's principal goal. Instead we got the W. watered down Medicare 'reform.' Hadenough	I do! Only a few don't have it-Africa and US (not sure about Mexico. All the others do. And they are not all bankrupt or get poor care that some sprout because they were told. Ask any on web if they would want to give that up--I think only the very rich. Its a selfish crime I think that we don't have this basic help for all to get the care they need. laurie	definately. this won't happen in the US. not until something MAJOR happens.... like another depression. money in the US is not proportioned equally throughout the people, and along with money ofcourse comes food, shelter and medical care. the rich people have to have their money in the stock market and away from greedy hands. atleast that's how the republicans see it. one thing i know, is that i can barely afford my medical care, (medicine and doctors appointments for a condition that i have) and the republicans want me to find my own way to get it. whatever. then i'm told that i'm going to hell because i'm a democrat. probably shouldn't have brought politics into my answer, but the issue of universal health care is definately a political issue. in response to woody m's answer: the government should foot the bill not the drug companies. i believe that's how the other countries work. SirEddieCook	I think Socialized Medicine is a bad idea. We need to improve the way we treat people and ourselves before we proliferate over-medication and abusive wastes that are already prevalent in the USA.
