I always eat icecream! Anyway if it has been three days I think it's time to see the doc as most likely you need antibiotics. Good luck!

Take Tylenol. Anything over the counter for a sore throat contains acetometephen such a chloraseptic sprays and such. Also gargle with warm salt water. Look at the back of your throat on your tonsils, are there white spots? Are your lymph nodes in your neck inflamed? If so this indicates an infection that you will need to go see your doctor for. He will prolly prescribe a "z-pack" which is 3-5 pills of antibiotics.

The old fashioned remedy was blackcurrant juice because it sooths the throat and promotes healing so it was believed. I gave it a go last time I went down with a cold and it did help so try it but if it continues for too long seek medical advice.

Bombay Saphire Gin (stored in the freezer so ice cold), on the rocks...
But, for a non-alcholic version, instead of buying Neo-Citron, or whatever, I simply use either iced-tea heated hot with a teaspoon of honey and a teaspoon of Cinnamon, or simply some hot (boiled) water with a splash of lemon concentrate and the same amount of honey and Cinnamon.
The other thing I do several times a day to help cure the sore throat, is gargle with warm salt water several times a day, this will help to disinfect your throat and your sore throats won't last as long.

Honey & lemon with hot water (as hot as you can manage).
Merocaine lozengers - these are antiseptic and will numb your throat.
I would go to docs soon, as you may have tonsilitis, especially if you're not feeling well too! Better to go sooner than later, as they will be able to prescribe you drugs!

Zinc and Vitamin C tablets (from any chemist).
Gargle with salt water.
Give it two more days before you think about going to your GP, because most sore throats start to improve after 5 days. They're usually caused by viruses (even tonsillitis), in which case antibiotics won't actually help.

I have had a sore throat for the past week. It started getting better yesterday and now it turned into a cough and runny nose, but not as much of a sore throat. Try medicine for cough and colds. Go to the doctor if it gets unbearable or if it impedes swallowing or breathing. Also, if you look in a mirror and see white spots on the back of your throat, that could mean Strep Throat so you should go to the doctor.
