eating fruit fresh or dried will greatly help constipation. I also recommend you take a powder fiber Supplement three times daily. Most health problems began in the intestines and keeping them functioning is very important.

I'd take fibre rich foods such as cooked-oats or a breakfast cereal rich in oats, nuts & seeds (not with milk but Soy milk is better). also probiotics either as a supplement or other. If taking a supplement look for a brand where the capsule has been enteric-coated to protect the bacteria as they pass through the acidic environment of the stomach.
Also I have heard pineapples are very good but am not 100% sure about this.
Also brussels sprouts and beetroot, beans, broccoli, peppers, apples and carrots.
psyllium seeds are supposed to be extremely effective, I think health shops sell them

How long have you been constipated for? If its more than a few days you should see your doctor. There might be an underlying problem. Try senna tablets or syrup of figs, or eating figs (if you can stand them!) Also try massaging your abdomen in a clockwise motion and Gentle exercise

Bran will help, you need to drink more, water, not alcohol.Prunes are very good, sometimes a cup of hot tea will help. Exercise, like squats will encourage your peristalsis to be more active. Once you have remedied the situation make sure you eat plenty of fibre in your diet. Leave skins on fruit and veg whenever possible.

I have terrible constipation due to my painkillers, and i have to eat broccoli and sprouts and lots of fruit and veg, i make chili with lots of kidney beans in it, eat prunes in their own juice and if i get real bad the only thing that will shift it is Lactulose, but Ive found that makes you bloated before it starts to work and it can be uncomfortable.
If you exercise and are active that should help too ?.
Good Luck :-)

Very hot chillies do it for me! I love a hot curry!
Plums and prunes do it for others.
Bran is slow to work its magic, and is a bit dry, but not too bad at all.

The fibre rich is the medium term solution, but not the quick fix.
The quickest fix is Epsom salts (Magnesium Sulphate) & it costs nothing! 250mg/day is good for you & will keep you regular. 15g will cause the world to blast through... So you make your choice at the dose depending on how your constitution reacts. Personally I would pick ~5g.
