What will help me sleep during the day without taking any sleeping pills?
I work nights. Not getting good solid rest during the day. I wear a mask to block out the light....

Herbal tea usually does it. "Sleepytime Tea" from Celestial Seasonings or "Sweet Dreams" from Bigelow are essentially the same product, but not quite. I've been using them when needed for almost 20 years now, and they haven't failed me yet. |

Try a couple glasses of good chardonnay, or a few shots of Tequila! That should do the trick hun. |

You have to make the room completely dark like it is night time. Been there done that. What I finally did was get contractor size black garbage bags and tape on the windows, then used the blinds over them to filter out the rest of the light. Blinds by themselves still let a little light in. Reason for garbage bags. then used weather stripping along bottom of doors and around doors to block light from there. Then to block out noise got a window unit. Fan blocked out the noise. And steady drone of fan helped me to sleep. In winter used a electric heater with fan for the same effect. |

Me too!! QUIET helps of course...If this is not possible, a sound machine works for me...you know, waves, rain, whatever. And, I have blinds that block the light completely, you may want to invest in some! It's hard for me to sleep with that thing on my face! |

Melatonin works great. Wearing the mask to block the light is also good. I had to take 3mg a day for almost a month before it worked for me. Some people it works on as soon as they start taking it |

Some people use a steady soothing sound to lull them to sleep. You can also try the old warm milk. If you don't mind your room being chilly turn up the air conditioning while you sleep and curl up under a soft blanket. You may not want to take sleeping pills (as you said) but Benadryl has no side affects unless you have a heart problem. Get the capsules not tablets. Benadryl is an allergy medication. Good luck and good night, I hope. |
