Peptic ulcers are not something to be taken lightly. If they burst, you can die of internal bleeding. My ex's mother died this way, in her 40s.
All this stuff about honey and fruit juice is just nonsense. Ulcers are caused by bacteria and need treatment by antibiotics (as pointed out by poetikliesense).
Please see your doctor right away, and don't listen to the dangerous waffle in most of these answers.

Dan, if you have been diagnosed with a stomach ulcer your medical practitioner will almost certainly have prescribed an appropriate treatment for you and it will almost certainly not be an "alternative" treatment as there are very effective "pharmaceutical" remedies on the market. If you have not been diagnosed and think you have a stomach ulcer then see a doctor now! Failure to get effective treatment could prove fatal!

I've always recommended golden Seal Root for stomach ulcers. For bleeding ulcers use cayenne pepper. This may sound strange but the cayenne pepper will stop the bleeding. Also mint is a good tonic for the stomach and licorice Root and Ginger.
Give the stomach a rest, stay away from fatty foods. Try using some powdered protein for a while to regenerate the body cells in the stomach. Is your intestine working ok? If not increase the bacteria with Acidophilus. There is a good chance that if the stomach isn't working well, everything after that is in trouble too.
When the stomach isn't giving you fits get some fiber into your diet to clean out the colon.

I used Liquorice, the black type, the stronger the better also
a glass of milk to cool the acid down. These seamed to ease
them but it isn`t a cure but it gave me some relief.
In the end, after many years,I had an operation for peptic and

I experienced an inflamed stomach lining years ago (due to anxiety). My herbalist used Marshmallow and Meadowsweet herbs which really helped because they soothe the stomach lining.
Slippery Elm is Gentle on the stomach and coats it with a lining that may help to protect it from foods that can irritate ulcers further.
Milk is bad news. Because although it is alkaline, the stomach has to produce more acid to neutralise it. So in the short term it seems to help but then the pain comes back again because of the acid.
In some cases stomach ulcers are caused by heliocobactor pylorii (?spelling) bacteria. Might be worth checking this out if you haven't already.
Hope you heal up quickly!

"Poetiklie" is correct the rest are old wives tales. It took two Australian doctors to discover that it was in fact a bug that was causing ulsers, unfortunately the World did'nt take them seriously until it was proven beyond a doubt.
Give him the money Barney.

both my mother and grandfather treated the symptoms of their ulcers with "Slippery Elm" to good effect. Tastes nice as well, a bit like horlicks ,as you have it mixed with warm milk. Not good if you're lactose intolerant though. Hope this helps

Mastica gum got rid of my ulcer in two months with no recurrance. The ulcer was diagnosed by my GP and after ultrasound and other tests was confirmed as an ulcer. My GP was going to give me antibiotics, but I can be a bit dodgy with them. I was told by my GP and specialist about research into mastica gum, and started the course of treatment. I noticed a difference in the amount of pain within two weeks. The gum, in capsule form, can be bought from Holland and Barrett, or your local health food shop. It costs about £14 for one months supply, Depending on the type you get you either take two or four capsules a day. I opted for the four capsule dosage, and took two in the morning and two in the evening. I experienced no side effects whatsoever, and, unsurprisingly, reccommend it very highly. I hope you are okay, it's a miserable thing to have.
I would also agree about the manuka honey, that helped too.

You can now successfully treat a very high percentage of stomach ulcers with antibiotics, check out the web for Helicobacter Pylore, it is a bacteria that causes most ulcers, it can easily be detected and treated.

1.Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice (Dgl) wafers can prevent ulcers and promote healing similarly to the common acid-blocking drugs. For best results, use the chewable wafers between meals for about two months.
2.Aloe vera juice offers relief by healing the stomach lining, reducing stomach acid secretions and aiding in the prevention of internal bleeding.
3.Vitamin A helps protect the lining of the stomach and small intestine, which will foster healing.
4.Zinc is necessary for wound healing.
5.Glutamine, an amino acid, speeds up the healing process by nourishing the cells that line the digestive tract. As an alternative to Glutamine, gamma-oryzanol, an extract of rice bran oil, may be beneficial because it promotes healthy levels of digestive juices.
6.Eat a well balanced diet rich in fiber. In the past, doctors recommended various dietary changes--eating bland foods, having small meals throughout the day and drinking milk. But research has shown that none of these measures are particularly effective. In fact, too much milk may actually increase the amount of acid produced by the stomach.
7.Quit smoking--Nicotine is believed to increase acid secretion and prevent the pancreas from secreting enzymes that protect the intestinal lining
8. If you know you have an ulcer, never take Aspirin or Aspirin-like products. If you do need Aspirin or an NSAID, always take the smallest possible dose and always with food.
9.Herbal teas made from Marshmallow,
Slippery Elm or meadow sweet all help to soothe the irritated lining of the stomach and duodenum.
10.Avoid trigger foods that seem to initiate indigestion or pain. Reduce or eliminate your intake of coffee, tea, or other caffeine-containing beverages.
11.If you know you have an ulcer, alcohol is forbidden because it breaks down the mucus in the stomach, which protects the lining from acid erosion. If you drink alcohol, reduce your intake. Never drink on an empty stomach.
12.If stress seems to bring on painful episodes, take steps to release tension. Meditate, get adequate sleep and exercise regularly.

There have been lots of good tips here and I have another one to add. Go to your health food shop and buy a large bottle of Slippery Elm capsules. As often as you can during the day, get a cup of water warm rather than hot, and break a couple of the capsules into it. The powder will form a gel when mixed with the warm water and when you drink it all down, it will coat the stomach and soothe it. Do this every day, several times until your stomach heals, maybe combining it with the manuka honey, or any good honey,if you find it hard to get + the olive oil mentioned by someone else. There is also Mastic Gum available at the health food shops which some people swear by, but I have no personal experience with it.

Hi Daniel
Here are the answers you need.
Causes of Peptic Ulcer
In addition to bacterial and viral infections, peptic ulcer can also be caused by poor diet, food allergies, nutritional deficiencies, alcohol, smoking, and chronic stress. As mentioned above, various commonly used medications can also cause problems, especially asprin. In addition to Aspirin, other NSAIDs linked to peptic ulcers include Advil, Clinoril, Feldene, Ibuprofen, Nalfon, Nuprin, Orudis, Oruvail, Relafen, and Tolectin. In severe cases of ulcer, internal bleeding can occur due to thinning of the lining of the stomach and/or intestines.
Quick Action Plan for Peptic Ulcer
1. Avoid all sugars, refined carbohydrates, sodas, milk and dairy products, processed foods, preservatives, artificial sweeteners (especially aspartame), corn syrup, alcohol, white bread and white flour products, pastries, and hydrogenated and trans-fatty oils, as well as all foods to which your are allergic.
2. Emphasize organic, fresh vegetables and non-citrus fruits, organic grains, as well as organic, free-range meats and poultry and wild-caught fish.
3. Drink plenty of pure, filtered water throughout the day.
4. Miso soup and strained vegetable broth, made from cooking down a variety of organic vegetables, are healing and easy to digest, making them especially valuable for any digestive problems.
5. To reduce symptoms, eat small meals throughout the day, rather than following the traditional three large meals per day routine.
6. Certain herbs have anti-inflammatory properties, which can help repair the lining of the stomach and intestines. The best herbs for this are Echinacea and Goldenseal, aloe vera, cayenne pepper, Chamomile, licorice Root, and Slippery Elm.
7. therapeutic juices include raw Cabbage juice by itself, or mixed with either carrot or Celery juice; raw potato juice; wheatgrass juice; carrot, spinach juice; carrot juice; carrot, beet cucumber.
8. Soothing baths two to five nights a week can help to relieve symptoms.
9. If you smoke, stop, and also avoid exposure to secondhand cigarette smoke. In addition, learn how to effectively cope with and manage stress.
10. If you are currently taking Aspirin or other NSAIDs, consider replacing them with safer, more effective natural remedies.
11. Nutritional supplements include Vitamin A, Beta Carotene, vitamin C, and Zinc, taken with a Multivitamin/multimineral formula. Essential fatty acids, especial omega-3 oils, are also recommended, as are bismuth and the amino acid L-Glutamine. Linseed oil can also be effective. It can be added to salads or over drizzled lightly steamed vegetables.
Best of health to you
Cheers
