What happens if you dont let an orally disintegrating tablet disolve in your mouth?

Tisker	If it is a tablet you put ON your tongue and let dissolve, then it will still work. If it is a tablet you put UNDER your tongue and let dissolve, then it will either not work, or work more slowly and less effectively. This will depend on which medication you are talking about.

kay_flood	depends, some medications are designed to melt in the mouth because stomach acids destroy them, others are made that way so absorption is quicker. Had you named the medication, I could have told you.

Sara	It really depends on the med, and its purpose. If it is a sleeping pill for instance (It's 9:20 here, so that's why I'm using this example). (Same goes for Nitro). They are recommended under the tongue because they are absorbed more quickly. They'll still work though, maybe to a lesser degree, but it is subjective, so...But if is and anti-fungal, say, for example for thrush, then, obviously it wouldn't be as therapeutic.
