MISS-MARY	They can do two tests. One is a upper GI where you drink white contrast junk and they take pictures while you are in different positions and while you swallow. The other is they can put a tube with a little light down your throat and take a look see. Both tests aren't that bad. A little uncomfortable for a while but, not the worst I've been through, for sure. I hope you get better with medication. Have they checked for H.Pylori? It's a bacteria that causes most ulcers. I've diagnosed 4 people that I know over the last few yrs. and I'm not a Dr. but when they asked for the test, blood test, they were positive. Good Luck Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

Quiet one	It may be just questions. Eat small meals and they should not be acid. A meal that could cause trouble would be spaghetti with the usual tomato sauce, or a tomato pizza. Eating too much, too fast, too much acid hurt. When symptoms start the worst thing you can do is to lay down. You want to sit up . Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

Lore	Usually to be certain you have acid reflux you are given a Esophageal ph exam. This is where they put a thin tubing down your throat to the desired level and is scoped for acid reflux , possible damage it may have done thus far. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

courtneycollegefunny	THEY WILL CHECK YOUR INSIDES AND MAKE SURE THERES NO HOLES OR BLEEDING WITH A UPPER GI TEST. I SHOULD KNOW SINCE I HAVE ACID REFLUX DIEASE. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

keoki9	They can have you swallow barium in front of a flouroscope to see if you are digesting correctly. Chest X-Ray and sonogram are typical, too. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

poetikgyrl@sbcglobal.net	I don't believe there is a "test" per se. When we present symptoms, often it is process of elimination (yes, on the doctor's part) so be VERY involved in that process. It may be something that you recently started to consume (say a month ago) or a new medication you started (say up to 6 months ago). You may want to eliminate certain foods from your dIEt (ie. chocolate?) and see if that helps, eat your last meal no less than 3 hours before you retire, don't lie down immediately after eating and you might try to sleep in a 'propped up position'. I found my acid reflux was related to a medication I had begun 6 months prior. I stopped the medication and the acid reflux went away. Two things: it is ALWAYS ALWAYS your option to stop taking a medication; and no, I did not take that little purple pill... although the doctor wanted to prescribe it. Good luck. Hope that helps. sapphire7514	ive had many different exams to determine why i have acid reflux, and to start i was checked for ulcers. pretty simple, just blow in a bag, drink some orange nasty stuff, and blow in another bag. results goto a lab, and you find out if you have ulcers from that. from then on, i went to a gastronologist and received a colonoscopy and a upper GI with a low intestinal follow through. curiously ive never had a scope put down my throat, but i was finally diagnosed with a hydial hernia. i figure it really depends on the situation and the doctor.
