David S	People who say homeopathy "never works" have clearly never read any published research. There are published studies showing homeopathy having effects on babies, people in comas and even animals. Of course, it's not effective on all people. Nothing is. The best pharmaceutical drugs are 40% effective. But people who just dismiss homeopathy, out of hand, clearly do not have the education or research background to know what they're talking about (that goes for the psychiatrist at quackwatch who failed his own Board Exams and that's why he can't practice in his own profession). For those who say "Energy Medicine" is not valid science, please explain how an EEG works then. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

Shalvia	I know I paid a vet $50 to take my dog's temp, listen to her heart and look in her ears...then give me an estimate for $300 worth of blood tests for things that did not match her symptoms. Then I spent less than 10 minutes researching her symptoms on-line and another 10-15 looking up alternative treatments. Then about $20 on stuff from the holistic pet supply that cleared up her kennel cough (which the vet didn't even consider) in 3-4 days. I know my doctor reccomends supplements for my arthritis and migraines over heavy pain killers. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

Monkey Lips	Homeopathy works - it is a tried and true treatment that is used in Europe and Asia. It is inexpensive and has no known side effects. Why on earth would any one want to ban homeopathy? In other words, people can legally buy alcohol, cigarettes, and some of the most harmful medications over the counter, but should not be allowed homeopathic medications? Doesn't make any sense. Livs	Hi, Having the right to choose is the most important right that humanity has. Whenever you take that right away you take a great step backwards. That said, Homeopathy has worked for myself and my family. My son has seen a Dr maybe 3 times in his 9 years of life since using Homeopathic remedies. When he was just 3 months old our family Dr predicted that because of our family's medical history I would be in his offices with my son at least once a month. That started my quest for an alternative health future for him. It was the best thing I've ever done for our health. I have not one iota of doubt that it works and that our overall health and well-being because of it just keeps geting better. I only hope that it becomes more widely accepted so that more people can benfit from it. There is a growing body of evidence that it does indeed work, but that is a whole other post. Paramedic Girl	I think people are entitled to use any form of medical treatment they wish. EXCEPT people who have mental illness and cannot make informed decisions for their care, or children (no matter what the parents want). chocokittycat	First homeopathic is an scientific medicine, it has been studied for more than 150 yrs. It comes from Germany. Is very well respected on Europe. The issue about banning it is because the big pharmaceutical companies don't want any one to compete with them.'cause they really work better than pharmaceutical medicine with lower side effects. Danger Nate	Homeopathic and medication should not be used in the same sentence. It is true that a homeopathic “remedy” has absolutely no side effects, this is because it has absolutely no effect. The pills are nothing more than starch or sugar. I’m against banning the whole Homeopathic industry on a civil liberties point. But when people take them instead of going to the doctor and getting a real medication, it puts their health at risk by delaying treatment. If they make specific claims I’m in favor of banning of products for false advertising. I’m also In favor of not allowing them to be paid for by insurance or Medicare and Medicaid. Ashley	I assume you are referring to CODEX-style restrictions which are already in place in some EU countries. Homeopathic preparations, which essentially contain nothing, may not be subject to any such restrictions, and I have read that in some countries the only natural remedies to buy OTC are vitamin C in 60mg tablets and homeopathics. In general, such restrictions, in my view, fly in the face of individual liberty and the Constitutional rights of everyone to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness-- which includes health (the UN human rights charter explicitly includes the right to health). At the same time, there are a lot of charlatans and hucksters out there pushing highly questionable products. The most vocal and, lamentably, popular appears to be Kevin Trudeau. Most nutritional supplements are remarkably lacking in toxicity, but several of Trudeau's recommendations could lead to death if an individual shuns allopathic medical care or more science-based alternative medicine. This being said, idiots are everywhere, and people die from improper mixing of household chemicals, frat party stupidity, playing on riding lawn mowers and other Darwin award worthy events-- and they die from these or basically any other cause at a rate far greater than from nutritional supplements. According to statistics, at least, nutritional supplements are essentially benign. So I guess I mean to say--it is a bad idea. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No
