Mike S	Your biggest clue will be her mouth... if she's constantly licking and trying to get moisture, that's the sign of a meth user because using that drug will not allow saliva to be produced in the mouth. That means eventually that her teeth will begin to rot out... and she will look very aged before her time. I attended a seminar on this topic, and that's your biggest clue. cptv8ing	First, so many people on here answer meth related questions and just regurgitate what they have read and what is "stereotypical" symptoms. Not everyone has the same signs and symptoms and until the use is very extreme most people will not even notice the use contrary to what you will hear on here. If you girlfriend is using continually and I mean on a day to day basis there should be some signs that are there even if they are difficult to spot. The first one being up all night which you already mentioned. Not ever meth user stays up for days upon days at a time but they will stay up later than the average person and get far less sleep than they did before using. The myth that they can't concentrate on one thing and constantly run around doing different things is totally untrue. For most meth users they tend to get overly focused on things such as cleaning their house, organizing small projects, fixing things, etc. The scratch face thing is also mostly myth. I have known several heavy meth users and never once saw them scratch themselves due to imaginary bugs or other reasons. If they do tend to scratch a little or pick at themselves it is only when they are coming down, it's a nervous system reaction and most users have dealt with this long enough to not do it. It doesn't automatically rot your teeth either. If you are a person that shoots meth using needles it's not going to effect your teeth like a person that smokes it. The hugely dilated pupils is a large sign. That's going to be your biggest clue. Paranoia is another sign. Even a person that has absolutely no reason to be paranoid can become paranoid and think people are either looking in their windows or following them. You will also find that they are hesitant to do things socially that they used to do as well. If she is smoking it you can look for a large stash of lighters as well. Erica B	My husband is an addict (former addict is an oxymoron with this particular drug although he's been clean for 1 year now) and from what you're saying it sounds like she's using again. The signs I usally see are: staying up all night, telling really bad bold face lies, dissapearing for hours on end, jumpiness, dialted pupils, what some call "crack blisters" (little tiny sores aroung the mouth and nose that look like pimples) and most notably defensiveness and anger when asked about my suspicions. Mexico4me	I know that an itchy face is one of the signs, among other things, like the dialated pupils and sleep disorders. Soon they have sores all over their bodies and their behaviour is just off. It sounds to me like this relationship is not heading the right way for you. If you would leave her in a heartbeat, then you are basically just wasting your time. Set your sights a little higher and go after a woman who has standards closer to yours, where drugs are not even an issue. To get ahead in this world, it helps to have a partner you can rely on and has similar goals and interests. You might want to ask yourself why you are staying with such conflict. First off almost all of my old friends ended up as meth addicts, I tried to deal with this fact by ignoring it but this drug is just too bad and does way too much damage to the persons mind as well as their body, the nickname my close friends and I have for meth is "Death". If she is using this drug you can try to help in many ways but my best advice is to keep her and anyone else that uses meth, "out of sight, and out of mind". This drug will turn all types of people into liars and thiefs, and once this drug is part of their everyday routine, most hope is gone for recovery, and the only thing that might save them from themselves will be prison or death. On some it can be hard to see clear evidence of their use, but most are dead giveaways. Just the signs you discribe tell the story, first she admits having a "past" problem, hanging out with users means she is using or will soon, and her old user friends would tend not to be around her if she is not using. I have seen best friends split because one used and the other didnt. A person on meth can get real dark under their eyes, dialated pupils, talking alot, sniffing alot, biting lips, grinding teeth, sweating alot, loss of weight, picking at skin, easily irritated, loss of appetite, sleeplessness, and dramatic moodswings. Also look for user tools such as syringes, razor blades, drinking straw or device where item can used to sniff drug, tinfoil for smoking it, does she have a drug kit? Small zippered pouch or maybe a compartment in purse. Names for it can be go-fast, zip, christy, or some weird name made up between users. Celeste P	Seems to me you have all the proof you need. If she continues to see people she has confessed to being users then she is going to do it again.
