instead of just quitting instantly do it in moderation...if you smoke one pack a day every couple of days have one less cigarette...if you really need to you can have Nicotine patches/gum, it's not cheating...

I know that "Silky Scents" has essential oils & organic essential oils, and they have a free recipe section.. click on the last catagory. there's one to help stop smoking using essential oils. You'll probably be able to find all the information there. Plus they have the pictures of each plant. You can google their name to find them online.

go smoke some Green Tea, out of a pipe if you have it but a bong works well, its pretty much the herb that will relax you to a point that you feel high, but its not like you depend on it, but its also very relaxing so it helps calm cravings, try smokin a couple bowls of it and just see how you like it. Its also healthy for you in many other ways. I've done it personally and it works, but you also have to go in with an attitude thinking that it will work (all drugs require this though) so if you smoke cigs then you've done something else, so you know what i mean.

If by cold turkey, you mean without the aid of gum, patch or something, I would use the step-down method.
If you smoke a pack a day, tomorrow smoke 15, then the next day 10. After that, smoke one less cig a day till you're down to one a day. Eventually, start skipping days. Every other day have one, then every third day. By the time you get to that point, it should be a nice easy step down to not smoking at all.
Good Luck!

You can improve your chances for permanently quitting with the cold turkey method if you follow a few guidelines:
Understand that withdrawal symptoms such as irritability, tiredness and more, may be fairly intense, but they will lessen after just a few days.
Drink lots of water to help your body flush itself out quickly.
Keep a straw or other cigarette substitute handy to keep your hands and mouth busy.
When cravings hit, close your eyes and count down from 10 to 0, very slowly. Breathe deeply with each count.
Call a friend when you feel like reaching for a smoke. Divert your attention.
Take a quick walk, even if it is just to the bathroom or mailbox.
Superhuman willpower is often associated with using cold turkey to quit smoking. While having strong willpower is important, ultimately your success depends on how badly you want to quit and whether or not you believe you can do it. If you want to quit more than you want to smoke, and you believe that you can quit, you'll likely be successful.
i also know that you have a person beside you who will support you no matter what happens. the love of your life will help you through it no matter what.

My best tip is drink plenty of liquids, and take around a big bag of baby carrots and Celery! That will give you something to do with your fingers instead of smoking and they won't make you gain weight - something quitters complain of. The main reason you may gain some weight is because you can suddenly begin to taste your food again! Best luck, exercise, eat smart, and you will do fine. PS: People with lung cancer have only a 30% survival rate (compared with over 90% for many other types). Lung cancer kills more people than any other cancer - stop now!!!!

Exercise a lot. Exercise generates endorphins, which will, in simple terms, make you feel good. You will also connect ridding yourself of the bad habit with starting up a new one, which will make you feel even better about your decision.
Props to you for quitting, by the way, it's not an easy thing to do, but it's certainly the right thing.

You have to really want to not smoke. Knowing that it is better that you quit is not going to cut it. Identify your trigger times. Mine were reaching for one as soon as I woke. I found that if I didn't give in to that I made it through the day much easier. Also smoking after you eat or a night on the town if a social drinker or a get together at home. Those trigger times will have to be thought out in advance with a plan to follow to assure your success in quitting. I also kept a crutch pack. One that remained unopened. That helped me to know it was there if I needed it. My desire to quit was stronger. Every time I really wanted to light one up I thought of all the reasons I wanted to quit in the first place. That was the best incentive of all.

I smoked from age 11 to age 26. I decided to quit. I made sure that I had a very busy weekend and a busy week to follow. I went racing and was too busy to think about smoking. Then, I carried both chewing gum and cinamin flavored tooth picks. Whenever I got the urge to smoke I either popped a piece of gum in my mouth, or a toothpick. I found that by reaching up and turning the toothpick, it satisfied my muscle memory for putting the cigg in and out of my mouth. 2 weeks later, I was smoke free.
Good luck

I quit 9 years ago.
I made it inconvenient to smoke.
I never had my cigs with me. I either left them home when I went on a short errand, or I left them in the car when I went in to work. (I could either chat with friends at break or go all the way to the car for a smoke)
I changed my habits. I cleaned the car real good and never smoked in it again. (used to have coffee and cigs on the way to work)
Had professional cleaners do my house cos the smoke residue was everywhere, and never smoked in it again. (I'd only been in my newly built house 7 months when I quit, but the brown residue that the cleaners washed off was disgusting.)
When everything was so clean, I began to notice that when I did smoke, my clothes really stank, and I ended up stripping in the mud room so I wouldn't take the smell into my closet.
Speaking of clothes: I spent a bundle taking things to the cleaners, and my favorite suit never did release the cig smell.
It only took 3 weeks to quit.
I know that wasn't cold turkey, but it was more effective for me.
Good luck!
