Ok, just to get the record straight, this is my daughter were talking about, so shaving her head and getting rid of her hair is simply out of the question! No i did not use karosine, it was a suggestion by my sister in law, i would never do that! I dont want to put a lot of chemicals on her head, and the lice shampoos are made of alot of chemicals that set off her asthma.

Shave her head. Or buy some medicine at the drugstore. Why a home remedy? Are you Christian Scientists? |

you could rub sum lime juice and leave it on for 30 mins, another alternative is curd. Wash it with a medicated shampoo and then brush the hair with a lice comb available at any supermarket. |

don't be so cheap. Go to the local Walgreens and get the medcine for a couple of bucks.RID has a good line of products that work well. Kerosene may burn the scalp. |

saturate hair w/olive oil.wrap head/hair with plastic wrap leave covered for 8 hrs. comb trough with a nit comb. repeat until no eggs are left. also white tyme oil helps. be careful it burns if you use too much!! use with the olive oil. good luck, and really i'd use the stuff from the store, it works alot faster!! |

by far the best non chemical way to get rid of them is to buy a good double toothed, metal nit comb.Every two days wash their hair then put conditioner on.while it has plenty of conditioner on, comb thoroughly with nit comb. This breaks the 3 day egg laying cycle.Nits will be gone by the end of the week. While there are still lice at your child's school, nit comb with conditioner at least once a week to stop further infestation. If you can get as many parents as possible to do this, the school will soon be rid of nits without harming the environment or your child. hope this helps, good luck |

Ok,the head lice (pediculosis capitis)is highly infectious so once any member of the family comes in contact the rest of the family should be treat as well. There are many lotions and potions on the market but unfortunately the parasites have become immune! The only proven reliable method is to cover the hair in conditioner after washing it then with a special "nit"comb (see pharmacist)comb through from root to tip wiping the surplus onto clean tissues. This can take a while and just because you stop combing out the lice dont think this is the end thats only half the battle,it is the actual eggs now that need to be removed (nits)you must continue to comb through, checking daily. The eggs are like little dots, partitioning the hair and combing in sections gives you a better chance of shifting the little mites!Good luck, please dont hesitate to contact me. |

Head lice Home Remedies If you don't want to use a chemical on your child's head, the most effective treatment that doesn't involve using any products at all simply involves removing the nits and live lice with a lice comb and/or tweezers. This is the method that is advocated by The National Pediculosis Association. It can be time consuming to do this and you may have to repeat the procedure for several days to make sure you get them all, but this is likely the best thing to do. You still have to take the time to comb out all of the nits anyway even if you use an anti-lice Shampoo, as these shampoos don't kill the eggs. If you don't, they will just hatch and you will have live lice again. Most other natural home remedies involve putting something on your child's scalp and hair to 'smother' the head lice. Popular choices include real mayonnaise, olive oil, and vaseline. These are usually left on overnight, often under a shower cap, and then washed out the next day. They can be very messy though and have not really been proven to work. Some experts believe that this method 'works' because you actually remove the nits and lice as you try to get this stuff out of the child's hair. There are also herbal remedies to treat head lice, including products with Tea Tree Oil and other essential oils. Because they are 'natural,' these are not regulated by the FDA, have not been proven to work, and should be used with caution and avoided in younger children. |

rub some lemon on the scalp then let the scalp soke for about 5 min, then rub some baby oil on the scalp, then brush har with a very fine tooth comb (you can buy one from a drug store or maybe use one for dogs where you can get form any pet store) do this process for about 3 times a week, but should take care of things in about the second or third session |

Put lots and lots of conditioner on her hair and comb it through with a nit comb (very fine tooth comb). Have a bowl of very hot water nearby to wash the comb in if you find any headlice, but let the comb cool before you use it on her head! Do this every 2 days for a week and she should be clear. |

After washing her hair, rinse it with vinegar (and then again with water). I know this prevents lice from appearing, plus, it makes your hair really shiny. I'm not sure though whether it will remove them once they are there. You may have to try the chemists remedy and then go with vinegar. |
