As below... Fish is good brain food because of there essentual fatty acids... L-Taurine could also help neurotransmitters as well as glutamic acid. The other possibility is the Phosphatydl Serine... but if you go down this road take in the morning as can have a stimulant effect if taken before sleep.

No easy tricks - but as someone who worked a long time in professional theatre, where memory is crucial - I have found that if you use your memory each day, it gets stronger, and you find it easier to memorize. Memorize a long paragraph every day - and in a fairly short while, you'll find it easier and easier.

Another thing that will help your memory is freedom from stress and enough sleep. I know, doesn't sound very sexy - but as a rule, most people today are overbooked. If you cut some stuff out of your schedule, if you get enough sleep, you'll find that it is easier to retain things you read.

Hi,
Have you ever heard of Goji Juice? Goji is the premier ‘brain tonic’ in Asia. It contains Betaine, which is converted in the body into Choline, a substance that enhances memory and recall ability.

In addition to a good Multivitamin and antioxidants for optimal brain metabolism, you want as many of the following brain-specific nutrients as possible:

- Acetyl-l-Carnitine
- Dha
- Phosphatidylserine
- Choline
- Ginkgo Biloba
- L-Glutamine
- L-Pyroglutamic Acid
- L-Tyrosine

Physical exercise has been shown to increase brain health, but there are also some "brain exercises" you can do to strengthen your brainpower.

- Ping-pong, tennis, video games, skeet shooting, and arcade games challenge your brain and body’s response time to unexpected occurrences.
- Bingo improves rapid hand-eye coordination, visual skills, and memory.
- Trivia games, card games, crossword puzzles, learning computer programs stimulate stores of knowledge, language, and problem-solving skills.
- Make a game of noticing ten items when visiting a new place. Leave the area briefly, then return and test yourself on how much you remember correctly. Practicing this skill sharpens your short-term memory.
- There are actually advantages to talking to yourself! Reading instructions or reminding yourself out loud when you have finished a routine task (i.e., turning off an iron, locking the front door, etc.) strongly reinforces the memory.
- Keep lists. The act of writing something down requires attention to the facts and details. Lists lock the contents in your brain in three ways: first by thinking about it, then writing it down, and then reviewing what was written.
- Connect names, faces, and numbers with a feature or the situation.
- If you experience trouble finding a word or name, let it go for a while. Dwelling on such lapses increases your stress, and compounds the problem.
- Mentally rehearse an event, conversation, or activity before it happens.
- Concentrate your full attention on a person speaking, task, or job.
- If you don’t have a pen and paper handy to make yourself a note, change something on your person to remind you of the task. For instance, move your wallet or loose change to a different pocket as a reminder to go to the bank, put your watch on the opposite wrist to remember an appointment, etc.
- Change everyday habits. Try going to the store by a different route; choose a different place at the table for your meals; etc.
- Develop “other-handedness.” Brush your teeth or hair with the non-dominant hand.
- Keep learning – Listen to audiotapes, read a book, explore alternative news sources (online, radio), attend an adult education class, etc.
- Word games and flash cards (found in the education section of most good book stores) train you to focus on a task, as well as retrieve information stored in your long-term memory and different centers of the brain.
- Solve three-dimensional puzzles, sketch real life situations or three-dimensional objects.
- Learn to read a map, read upside down, or play a musical instrument.
- Listen to a new kind of music.
- Do math by hand; then check your answers with a calculator.
- Watch a movie with the sound off and study the emotions and personalities of the characters by their actions. Make up your own dialogue or movie plot.
- Look in the mirror as you practice displaying emotions through your facial expressions.
- Reconstruct recent conversations or memorize a poem.
- Keeping a journal of your day’s activities, your dreams, and past events add volumes of data to your memory stores.
- Expand your language skills; learn and use new words.
- Practice gymnastic moves such as handstands or cartwheels. If you are a little unsteady, try doing similar moves in a swimming pool.
- The simple act of spinning around on one foot or swimming underwater stimulates neural activity.
- Try activities that require coordination, such as jumping rope, walking backwards, juggling, even building a house of cards.
- Try to fix or identify the problem in a small broken appliance or gadget.
- Learn stretching exercises for even the smallest muscles.

Omega-3 fatty acids cannot be synthesized by the body. Therefore it is very important to ensure that you consume adequate sources either from diet or supplementation. While all fish contain these fats, cold-water fish--salmon, sea bass, tuna, trout, mackerel--are particularly rich sources because of their diet: plankton packed with omega-3s. Interestingly, the colder the water, the more omega-3s in the plankton.

The best way to get fish oils--and omega-3s--is by packing your weekly diet with fish. Aim to put such delicacies as salmon, halibut, and cod on the table three or more times a week.

A bit of research will reveal one supplement that seems to lead the pack when it comes to keeping a person's ability to remember at its highest level.

That supplement is Gingko Biloba Extract. The reason that it's thought to have such a significant impact on memory function is that it helps with the flow of blood throughout the body. This of course includes the flow of blood to the brain. Blood contains oxygen and having a steady and constant flow of blood keeps the memory sharp. There are numerous different brand names of supplements that proclaim to be the best source of Gingko Biloba Extract therefore it's up the potential consumer to decide which one is best suited for their needs.

Another supplement that appears to offer benefits in the memory department is Rosemary. Rosemary is often thought of as a spice we use when cooking. The effects of it as a herbal supplement are interesting. Rosemary works as a way of stimulating the brain. Keeping the brain stimulated is essential in making certain that memory is working correctly. There are different varieties of supplements that contain Rosemary and checking the dosage and strength is always recommended.

Many of the natural remedies that offer benefits in memory function work towards other health goals as well. An example of this is Green Tea. Green Tea is becoming a natural cure for many ailments or conditions. It's thought to have a positive effect on memory function and along with black tea when consumed in moderation seems to help in optimizing a person's ability to remember.

Ginseng also seems related to improved memory function. Ginseng is a herb that is often associated with improving energy and people who are aging swear by its ability to revitalize. If it has this profound effect on other parts of the body it would seem reasonable that it would work as a booster to the mind and the memory. There are several different supplements that can be purchased that contain Ginseng and it's important to weight the benefits of the other ingredients when choosing one that is specifically formulated in helping with memory function.
