Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or Mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. You can find some good home remedies at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html

Mix half a tsp salt with a cup of warm water and gargle a few times a day. Some people like warm tea with lemon, or tea with honey. Alternate cold and warm drinks. Keep your throat well hydrated by sipping on fluids all day. You can pick up some throat lozenges that will help numb the pain. Also, Tylenol or Ibuprofen will help ease the pain.
I feel for you, as I have the same thing and it's really dragging me down. :(

licorice, Slippery Elm or horehound are some good herbal remedies. Steep them like you would tea and strain out the herbs in a cloth but keep the liquid. Sweeten with honey or sugar (honey is best for your throat). FYI, when we say Licorice we don't mean the sweet candy form. Good luck!

Get some Zinc lozenges at the health food store. Let it dissolve in your mouth. Your throat will feel better after one or two tablets. However, your taste buds will be affected for a couple of hours so eat first.

Gargle with warm salt water.
Sleep with a vaporizer running in your bedroom.
Drink regular tea, such as Red Rose or Lipton. The tannic acid helps soothe sore throats.
It's gross but chew up an Aspirin & swallow it. It will numb the pain in the back of your throat.
Or, eat & take some Motrin.

Take a shot of some kind of liquor and gargle it in the back of your throat. Im serious. All a sore throat is, if you in your case you have caught a virus, the virus and your immune system are fighting in the back of your throat, your probably winning because its sore and your immune system is killing the healthy cells that have been infected by the virus.
All a shot does is kill EVERYTHING. And it will be gone in day. Trust me!
Or if you dont like he sound of hard liquor...Make a hot toddy.
1oz of rum
honey
lemon
tea

Here's what I would do: First: Colloidal Silver spray or liquid (it's a natural antibiotic) Second: Tea Tree Oil gargle several times a day Third: Wellness Formula by Source Naturals take it every day follow instructions for when ill and when well. There are so many other things you can do that will help boost your immune system like elderberry, Garlic, aloe, Zinc and VIT. C lozengers.
There is also a old wifes tale about gargling with salt water, I would prefer sea salt 1/4 tsp in warm water, you could add the Tea Tree Oil to that. Find a good health food store check out the immune boosting section and ask for help. Theres a good book you will find there Prescriptions for Nutritional Healing by Balch. There is now a fourth edition.
Good Luck

Easy Joanna, just put 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (just use white vinegar if you have to) into a mug and add one inch hot water and top up with warm water. If the taste is a bit tart for you add honey to taste and drink up Freddy !!! This has an amazingly soothing effect on your throat and will also help to clear up nasal blockage and flu like symptoms. Actually most people get continually sick with colds and the like cos their system has trouble producing enough Hydrochloric Acid to digest and utilise ingested food stuffs. The vinegar in this yummy drink will give your tummy a bit of a helping in the digestion department and restore it to its correct alkaline level. To avoid constant bouts of illness such as you're experiencing now just drink this little mix 1/2 hour before each meal but add 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon baking soda to stop the dental decay and you seriously will bouncing like a joyous little beanie in no time at all.
PEACE & LOVE & ALL THAT

Everyone knows about lemon and honey cough drops. Well, I use the real thing. Cut a lemon in half and heat up a pan. Toast the open parts of the lemon until they get hot and are turning brown. Then squeeze some honey onto the lemon.
Then just suck on the lemon and honey. I usually keep adding honey and heat up the lemons until the juice is all gone.

Gargle with Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar, mix it in warm water with raw honey. Both have healing properties. It will make your throat tingle and you will feel the mucous drawing out of your nose and throat. When I do this, I'm constantly spitting out loose mucous for a while afterwards, and the throat pain slowly disappears, depending on how bad the situation is.
Also, take lots of vitamin C!
(You must buy the vinegar at a health food store, as regular vinegar is artificially made from either grain or Coal Tar and colored!)
