Yes, there are benefits to alot of patients with this drug. If monitored they should be allowed to have it. God put it here for some reason. I dont think He intended it to be a way to lock people up for having. It is a natural herb. |

From what i heard, and learned, there are no medical uses for marijuana. Unless it is to numb pain. I do not think it should be legalized, it causes more problems. Such as schizophrenia. Honestly, i do not think it will be legalized because there are so many problems with it in the first place. But if it is, it is. |

Yes, it should be, because alot of people benefit from the pain relief and relaxation that smoking it brings! There are places where it is decriminalised, which isn't the same as legalized, but only incurs a fine, such as littering or speeding would incur a fine. |

It should be legalized for any use. Because it's none of anyone's business. |

yes for any and all use. The only reason why it isn't legal is because the government hasn't found a way to make money off of it. |

mary j is actually less harmful than alcoholnon addictive, and no phisical side affectsother than the whole killing of brain cells thing,,but like i said before alcohol kills more brain cells than pot...so i say sure legalize it for medical or pleasure,is it a gateway drug..sure,but if they legalized heroine im not gonna run out and start filling my viens with the stuff!!legalizing it wont create new drug addicts just make those who use it not a criminal...but as for medical,,,why not legalize it..hell Morphine is legal,,and it is way more potent than mary j,i dont know what the governments big problem with pot is...and this is coming from someone who doesent even use the stuff!!! |

Most definitely, and without a doubt! Marijuana is most useful medicinally, for two conditions in particular, Chronic Pain, and appetite disorders. I suffer from severe acute chronic pain - from seven ruptured discs in my lower back, torn rotater cuff tendons in both shoulders, and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in both wrists. These conditions are all the after-effects of an on-the-job injury. My Workmans Compensation medical program is through the U.S. Dept. of Labor [I worked for the Postal Service before being medically retired]. Because the Postal Service still falls under the authority of the Dept. of Labor, and therefore is required to obey Federal guidelines, they would not pay for marijuana. However, the Dept. of Labor was/is perfectly willing to spend enormous amounts of money for Morphine and oxycodone [an extremely potent derivative of the Opium poppy]. At one point, my Orthopedic surgeon sent me to a Pain Management Clinic to attempt to deal with the severe acute Chronic Pain. Their method of dealing with the pain was to have me come in once a month, ask if the medication had been effective in relieving the pain, and, when I said no, they would increase the doseage. For nearly a year, I walked around like a zombie. I was barely conscious, but constantly in pain. I had cigarette burns in every piece of clothing I own due to falling asleep while smoking - a side effect of the narcotic. And - I still suffered from the acute chronic pain. Finally, I told my Orthopedic surgeon that the opiate narcotics had completely destroyed any quality of life, and that I wanted to try marijuana for the pain. The doses of opiates they had prescribed by this time were so high that they concerned my Orthopedic Surgeon to the point that he admitted me to a local detox center for three days to provide medical supervision during my withdrawal from the opiate narcotics. Since the hospital to which I was admitted is in California, and California legalized the medical use of marijuana in 1996, the hospital not only had no problem with my using marijuana for relieving the pain - they actually gave me a room in the detox center I could use to smoke my herb while going through the severe withdrawal I experienced when I quit the oxycodone! After emerging from the effects of withdrawal, my Orthopod asked me which drug was most effective in dealing with the pain. My answer: While neither of them relieved my pain completely, the marijuana was far more effective in relieving the pain than the opiate narcotic; and I was able to regain some measure of quality of life. In my opinion, the saddest part of this whole scenario is that the Dept. of Labor was willing to pay for enough oxycodone to kill an elephant without killing the pain; but won't pay for my marijuana even though it is quite a bit more effective. Since a medical retirement doesn't pay a great deal, it is a significant hardship to have to pay for it myself. The bottom line is this: Physicians are trained in treatment of the disorders of the human body. Legislators are not, and have absolutely no business passing laws that tell physicians what they can and cannot prescribe to their patients. They [the Legislators] haven't got the slightest qualification to make such an evaluation or decision; while physicians are highly trained at evaluating the effectiveness of these substances. |

ABSOLUTELY! I come from canada where medicinal marijuana is legal and let me tell you all, it is an absolutely VITAL part of many many sick people's therapy regime. Most notably, people with severe pain can benefit greatly from marijuana. ALSO, it is VERY helpful for people with disorders that leave them without an appetite. My brother had an auto-immune disease and after a day at the hospital getting checked, poked, and prodded he rarely had an appetite and would go on with only eating a little bit every day. Smoking mari allowed him to: 1) take his mind off the days negative issues 2) regain his appetite 3) RELAX...probably the most important thing of all. I know we've all grown up in an age of propaganda...and yes I agree drugs are bad. But to claim marijuana is a drug, when in fact it is an all natural herb, similar to many many other natural herbs and plants that are used for medicinal purposes, is hypocrisy at it's finest. In my opinion, Mari is very useful for a great number of people who need relief from a great number of problems. |

Yes. It should be legalized period. It is NOT harmful. Infact, by making it illegal, the good ole USA government is only helping the drug cartelle.... It keeps prices sky high and creates a huge demand for it. |

It should definately be legalized in my opinion. There are too many reasons to list! There is so much propaganda these days about this practically harmless plant. And actually, marijuana already is prescribed for patients with narcolepsy, stress and pain, among other things. But I don't suggest smoking it in a joint (cigarette), which is not so healthy due to all the harmful chemicals produced when burning bleached paper! A better idea is to use pipes (especially water pipes/bongs) and better yet, vaporizers. Vaporizing marijuana is very easy, cheap, and even more pleasurable in my opinion. And it DOES NOT CREATE SMOKE! So you only get the pure medicinal qualities of this wonderful herb with vaporizers, no tar...etc. Beware the myths about marijuana! It is NOT addictive. It does NOT lead to harder drugs. Marijuana does NOT kill brain cells. etc etc etc However, most plants/herbs are not perfect for everyone. Marijuana may cause some short-term memory loss (which is not permanent). It may also increase your appetite (which can make you gain weight). The only way it can really harm you is if you ridiculously overdo it and abuse it, JUST AS YOU CAN OVERDO ANYTHING. Clearly the medicinal uses of marijuana far outweigh any consequences. |
