Caffiene is hard to quit cold turkey, try slowly lowering intake. Tea has less caffiene, try switching to tea and slowly decreasing the amount you drink.

The headaches can get really bad, and can persist for a week for some people. Slowly drinking less caffiene usually does the trick.

No, do it cold turkey. Give it three days... Sucks but is worse than smoking in my opinion, the withdrawals that is... I have tried both, and quit smoking ,have yet to quit caffine.

It's a withdrawal symptom. She should quit coffee over a few days to reduce the symptoms. GOing cold turkey is going to give a headache. I suggest sleep and rest and a dark room.

She will be OK in 24 hours after the withdrawals are over.

Ibuprofen or Excedrin, and just wait it out. Once she gets through the withdrawal time she'll feel fine.

Kudos to her for quitting! That stuff will kill you!

someone told me the other day that you can cure a bad headache by drinking 2 glasses of gatorade ... I don't know if it works, but thought I'd mention it.

Truthfully, ibruprofen (Motrin), this will help with the pain the best. Caffeine is a bit like a narcotic. You gotta get it outta your system and then go through the "withdraw" process.

You shouldn't just QUIT coffee. You gotta WEANE... gradually drink less and less every day. You cold turkey it and you'll get headaches. Give her JUST ONE cup of coffee and she'll feel better. And remember... Even decaf has SOME caffeine in it. So for now, one or two cups of decaf will do if you don't have regular around.
