The advice posted here is very good. Also consider aloe juice, and take vitamin C - therapeutic value - 1000 mg 3 times a day
Bananas are relatively high in sugar. Best to avoid them. Sugar aggrevates athritic conditions. If you have a sweet tooth, invest in Stevia drops... won't cause inflammation, and has nutrients.... not harmful like artificial sweeteners.
Have vegetables including kale, Cabbage, Parsley, green-leafy vegetables (not necessarily cooked spinach).
Diet should be:
* high in complex carbohydrates (fiber-rich whole grains, fruits, and vegetables)
* low in protein (15% of calories and sources should be fermented Soy such as sauteed tempeh, fish, or beans)
* no more than 30% of calories in fat (with only 10% animal fats) Extra virgin olive oil (organic preferably), Flax Oil
Jazz it up with no salt seasonings like Spike & Vegit or other brands like Frontier.

Check out www.goutcure.com. My Mom has been on the product since December and has only had one minor flare-up. Even then, she had let her supply run out, so it may be that her uric acid level was starting to go up (the product keeps uric acid levels down).

This is not a solicitation but a genuine offer of free help.

Make sure you stay hydrated. Drink a lot of water so the purines don't crystallize. Give beef and pork a break. Stay away from alcohol.

Avoid all red meat, and avoid veggies like spinach. Stop drinking any alcohol or caffeine, if you are consuming any. Drink as much water as you can, and see if you can get concentrated cherry juice from a health food store. (I get it for hubby, he gets gout.) While you're there, they probably have natural therapies for it, my hubby takes stuff called "goutrin", and swears by it.
If you've had it for three weeks, then it's probably time to see a doctor and get medication for it to go away. Pee flourescent yellow urine for a while, and get better. It's such a painful, horrible thing, and it doesn't always go away (they have found uric acid crystals fossilized in dino bones).
