***valerian Root
The following information came from The How to Herb Book
"valerian Root is a powerful, effective antispasmodic. It quiets, calms, and has a healing effect on the nervous system. Valerian root is a marvelous weapon against stress and nerves.
*Promotes sleep if taken at night. Has no narcotic effect.
*Relieves pain.
*Good to normalize heart palpitations, slows action of heart while strengthening it. Good for circulatory system.
*Stimulates secretion and peristaltic action of stomach and intestines.
*Anti-flatulent (gas) for adults and infants.
*Used for children with measles and scarlet fever for restlessness and pain."
The following information came from this website
http://www.bulkherbstore.com/vrc...
"Traditionally Valerian has been used medicinally to treat nervous disorders, hypochondria, migraines, insomnia, depression, cramps, croup, colic, flatulence, whooping cough, typhoid, fever, epilepsy, vertigo, convulsions, diabetes, cholera, sores, heart palpitations, stomach ulcers, vaginal yeast infections, premenstrual syndrome, bed-wetting and sleep disorders.
Hundreds of experiments have been conducted on Valerian primarily in Germany and Russia. These studies have substantiated the herb’s effectiveness in the treatment of nervous, circulatory, digestive and sleep disorders. Valerian root targets the higher brain centers, suppressing and regulating the autonomic nervous system. Consequently, Valerian is very effective in dispelling psychosomatic diseases which result from a glitch in the regulation of the autonomic nervous system. Valerian pacifies the fear of hypochondriacs, soothes the nervous and calms the hysterical."
* It may take longer for an herbal supplement such as Valerian to get into your body system than it would a prescription drug. Valerian is a natural product that should not cause side effects that pharmaceuticals would. I have a friend who reported after his first night of taking Valerian that he had weird dreams and felt "loopy" the next morning. But he reported two weeks later that he was still taking the Valerian and was sleeping like a baby. Whether or not the Valerian caused his "episode" we do not know. But we do know that he is a happy camper now that it is in his system. The bottle may say take 3 capsules at bedtime, but you may have to adjust the dose according to your own needs. I have another friend who is taking it that said 3 capsules made her not want to get up the next morning. Now she takes one capsule and is getting the sleep she needs and is ready to rise the next day. Herbs are all about YOU treating YOUR body-so you will have to figure out what YOU need.
* You can buy Valerian Root Capsules at Walmart and other pharmacies. (As with any herbal capsule, if you find you can not swallow it you can always open it up and sprinkle the content into you food or beverage.)

I am using essential oils on my daughter's feet & wrists before she goes to bed. I think it really helps. At the following website they have an essential oil blend called "Peace & Calm". I have been using "Valor" on her feet because I didn't have the other one. You can also buy one of those nice misting fountains and place it in your bedroom at night and add a couple of drops of the oil to it and use it at a diffuser for aroma therapy. I know all this sounds hokey, but it has helped my daughter.

I suggest Moodlift Complex. It supports feelings of well-being by using a blend of complimentary herbs: St. John's Wort, inositol, Eleutherococcus Senticosus, and green oats. It helps to relieve anxiety, sleep disorders, nervous disorders and promotes relaxation.
Hope this is useful and feel free to contact me with questions.

You could try real Peppermint tea and raspberry tea. Both are relaxing. Those are just band-aid remedies though, because you might still need help for the underlying cause of your anxiety. Best bet, take yoga classes and research places that can help you with relaxing and deep breathing exercises. If you can jog, that's also a natural way to get over anxiety because physical activity releases certain chemicals that help. Avoid coffee, regular tea and all sodas because the caffeine in them will make you jumpy.

Make sure to check with your doctor before trying an herbal remedy. Even though they may be natural, herbs can still interact with other medications or exacerbate medical conditions. Some of the suggestions so far are good, for example Lavender is known to be relaxing when used in aromatherapy.
Cut down on sugar and caffeine, and increase whole grains and healthy sources of protein. Do at least 30 minutes of vigorous exercise a day. Check out the book "Potatoes Not Prozac."

You can use Kava or Valerian root just do some research on your own as to how to use these herbs work and what to watch out for. Just because they are herbs does not mean that if used the wrong way can be dangerous. I have used both and they work very well use the liquid it is better.

Valerian root is helpful, along with drinking Green Tea (Green Tea seems to be good for so many things). Lavender is also soothing. The fragrance of vanilla & Lavender is very relaxing.
Helping control your breathing (in and out slowly) will help calm you. Alot of anxiety control is diverting your attention (removing or replacing the thought that is causing you anxiety). Thinking peaceful thoughts helps. Take your mind to a place or time where you feel or felt good. Prayer also helps some people.
Good luck, I hope at least some of this helps you.

I have been a sufferer of anxiety and panic attacks. I used to be extremely paranoid during a panic attack. I researched this topic in order to deal with my anxiety problem. Therapy and prescription drugs are customary solutions for this problem.
Since therapy is expensive, I took a prescription drug. This was really good and made me feel joyful and relaxed. After sometime I felt that I was becoming dependent on the medicine so I started looking for some alternative treatment.
Hypnois is one recommendation for anxiety relief. I used a natural or herbal remedy (PureCalm) to deal with my anxiety problem. In the beginning I was a little skeptical but I got amazing results.
The following source has some good information on anxiety and its natural or herbal treatment...Good Luck!!
