If you believe in it, it will still have its potency.

(placebo effect is wonderful)

If not too long past the expire date i.e. 1 or 2 months.

If when opened, the smell is not horrific.

If when opened, the pills don't look discolored.

I advice you not to do that.

Actually, I prefer to eliminate my stress naturally. i.e. using the natural method without swallowing any pills.

Those pills will only give you temporary effect and may harm you in the long run.

If you wish to learn more about how to eliminate your stress naturally. I can point you to a resource where you can download the information for free.

It's called The "4 symphonies of stress" (download link below)

The best bet on any medicinal type medicine or food is to discard after the expiration date, yes sometimes they will still be potent after that date but not advisable as there is a reason that these dates are listed in that certain herbs have a limited shelf life and without perservatives it tends to be sometime shorter than traditional medicines.

Best advise buy a new bottle for maximum benefit and flush the old down the toilet

Wel....how long has it been expired? If it's been for a short time, just go for it, but if it's been a while (more than a couple months) I wouldn't be 100% sure.

There's a bit of a yes/no answer to that, and it depends on a few things.
Basically, (assuming it's a good quality company) the expiration date is the latest that the company can guarantee the potency on the bottle until if it's kept around the proper temperature (room temperature or whatever the bottle lists).

So, if it's been expired for a few months, it should still be close to the potency listed on the bottle. If it's been expired for a year or two, you might get a little benefit from it, but nowhere near what it once was.
Powder or pill supplements aren't like dairy products... they don't go "bad" after the expiration, they just may not be as potent, and some powders will probably taste stale (like old bread or cereal that's kept dry). Oils past the expiration should be tossed, but that's because oils exposed to Oxygen can go rancid. I hope I helped!
