Most likely which is why you should try to stay away from anti-depressents and sleeping pills.

This is called a step down and this is how it's done. But it should be done by an MD, NP or PA who can decrease the dosage safely and appropriately to prevent rebound depression.

I was on Prozac for 10 weeks. It was causing me to have low blood pressure. My doctor told me tto stop taking it. The way she told was take it for 3 days offf for 3 days take it for 2 days off for 2 days...... But honestly I quick totally. My Dr. told me that I may have headaches , which I didn't. Eveyone is going to be different. Consult your Doctor first!!!

Oh yeah, don't mess with Prozac withdrawl on your own. I went off and had the worst relapse of depression that took me 1/2 year to get straightened out. I had tried to be "holistic" and was sick of needing pills. I highly recommend counseling along with the right medicine. Only your trusted doctor can help you with finding the right med, dosage and the amount of time you need to be on anti-depressant. And, you have to fight for your mental health by getting exercise, eating right and not expecting the world or just a pill to give you everything. Life is tough sometimes but oh so sweet.

It's possible, but usually only happens when the person is not really ready to go off of them in the first place. I took anti-depressants on and off for about 5 years. There were times when I went off of them and then had to start taking them again. I am finally off of them and hopefully it's for good this time. I feel like I was ready to go off of them this time because I felt like I had finally dealt with the issues in my life that was causing the depression in the first place. Anyway, good luck.

You must talk to your doctor. It is very possible to cut down/stop (gradually and at the right time) for many people. For other people this isn't the best option for them in their current situation.

You should defintely get off them slowly. That is what I did with Paxil and it was a struggle. There is always a risk. You should talk to your doctor or check out web md. Good Luck!

As you have gradually reduced the dose, the side effects will be very minimal(if not, any) however, you may find, that over time, yes, you may have the symptoms of depression, etc return.

Are you having any congnitive therapy? You should be having this whenever you are on a course of anti-depressants. They should never be taken purely on their own in the treatment of depression.

You may notice that your symptoms of depression are not as much. It depends on how long you took them for and what was the main purpose.

You won't "rebound" if that is what you mean. It won't be like a sudden feeling of depression coming back all over again.
You may be anxious and thinking that the depression is going to return.
Try to think positive thoughts, ie: "I am going to get better and now I am going to feel happier and stronger everyday now that I am not taking antidepressants".

If the symptoms re-appear try doing something alternative.
Do a course or take up a hobby. Try exercise.
Walking is a wonderful way to work off stress and the endorphins released into your blood stream do wonders for the
emmotional state.
Try eating a more stable, healthier diet.

You may be looking for the symptoms to come back and talking yourself into them, but you may be cured in some way.

Speak to your doctor if it bothers you.

I was on Zoloft for a few years and then gradually weaned off them. I took up cycling and walking and found that this was the best anti-depressant for me.

Talking with a counsellor or trained therapist also helps.

Anti-depressants have their place in society, but they are usually short-term treatments.

I wish you well.
Try not to worry too much and try the alternatives that I have mentioned.

Good luck! Keep smiling : )
