There should be a 'store at ____ temp.' on the bottle... so check that

as long as it's not hot, the ingredients won't break down. So if it's not frozen (and I doubt it is, cause it has alchohol in it). I'd think it's Ok.

the main reasons why you have to adhere to the drug temperature requirements (ie: in the fridge, at room temp etc) are:
1. breakdown of one or more chemical ingredients including the active ingredient. this can cause the drug to either not work as well or not at all
2. prevents bacteria from growing - which may be harmful to your health to ingest and may also affect the drug activity. just think of putting a bottle of mayonaise out in the sun for a day, would you still want to eat it?
3. stability of the overall drug product - some drugs, especially liquids (solutions and suspensions) can be broken down by the temperature and will be unsafe to take.

for your nyquil, it really depends on how long you left it in your car for. if it's for a couple hours i wouldnt be too concerned. if you left it overnight and it froze (or parts of it did) then i wouldnt take it. if its been more than a couple hours and there isnt any signs of any ice formation then you could try it because it probably won't do any extra harm. it might not work as well however so just keep that in mind
