I get bit by mosquitoes alot what can I do to not attract them?

Mosquitoes are attracted to scented skins the most. Do not ingest alcoholic beverages... mosquitoes don't like their blood plain and they can smell the liquor coming out of ya a mile away.

Taking vitamin supplements is also known to help...those such as Garlic.. again these seep out of your skin through sweat [glands] only the mosquitoes do NOT like this and will DART from you like a vampire.

Of course the all knowing sprays with the highest percentage of Deet in it as possible that you can find are a must. Any brand will do as long as it has this product in it.
These come in sprays and lotions and candles and whipes.. etc...who knows perhaps you can find one in a vitamin form??

Use bug spray. The are attracted to sweet smelling shampoo, soap, perfume and hairspray. So you might want to avoid that kind of stuff.

Dryer sheets. Before I go outside at night during the summer I always hide a few in my clothes. It's always worked for me. My friend Sarah started doing it to.

Last year from one of those odd "gizmo" catalogs I bought a mesquito repelling wrist gizmo.....it's the size of a watch and has 2 settings of these very fast clicking noises.....it reproduces the sound and air waves of a dragon flys wings. D. Flies LIVE to eat mesquitoes!! It seems to work. Worth the 5-7 dollars I think. I don't know where you can find one.....fire up Google.....Personally I'm putting up a bat house on my property this season!

Use bug spray, try not to eat a lot of sweets, especially bananas, and avoid going out at dusk as much as possible.

two of the answerers are lying to you,. Bananas ATTRACT mosquitos and biting flies!!!!! They are either misinformed or maliciously trying to get you bit by mosquitos.

Eating Garlic, vitamin supplements with iron in it if you are iron deficient. Bounce sheets work pretty good too. There is a natural spray called Bug Off that works. Skin So Soft works pretty good, have to reapply after a bit though and is somewhat oily.

I just read this in the AARP 'paper' they send me now that I'm 'old' ... EAT A BANANA! Evidently there is something in bananas that change the way we 'smell' to mosquitos so they don't come near us after we eat one ... and one banana should be good enough to 'last' for at least half a day!

Besides bug spray, wear light coloured clothing, don't wear any perfumed products outside.

well this might not help that much since you cant do it for that long....but they are attracted to carbon dioxide...so try to hold your breath if you just have to run out to the car or something.

Don't wear hairspray, perfume, anything sweet......they love it and it attracts them.
And then there are people like my husband and daughter, mosquitoes just love them both, they both get welts where bitten.
Try Skin So Soft by Avon. Always worked for us.

Eat Garlic. They don't like it. Also, there are topical applications that you can apply to your skin so that they won't bother you as much. Stay away from places where there is a lot of standing water. You can also burn a citronella candle when outdoors, as it keeps them away.

Try not to be sweating. i heard that that that really attracts them. That's why camping may get you sweating. Or stinky. BEST OF LUCK!

I got virtually no bites when I was on a no-meat diet. Surprised the crap out of me. I have always gotten lots of bites that welt up. Eating meat now, the bites are back.

Go to the Walgreens and get yourself some Nasalcrom. Yeah, the nasal spray. Spray it on your hand and rub it on the bite. If you catch the bite early it won't swell at all. If you don't catch the bite early then you'll need to reapply after showering or it will go back to swelling. If they sold this stuff in a lotion then I wouldn't ever bother with the mosquito repellent. Guess there's a west nile issue but really I'm mostly worried about the itch and swelling.

babygurl
they love cologne and personal hygiene products that put off fragrance....but your body heat also attracts those nasty little insects.......Avon makes a spray called Skin So Soft AKA: SSS and they make it with or with out fragrance and it works better than anything with no harmful insecticides and it is so good for your skin......try it, i promise you will never use another insect repellent again....

I've read several good answers here - and a few goofy ones.

I make a mosquito repelling spray for myself and my family, using pure essential oils of Citronella, Peppermint, Tea Tree or Eucalyptus, and Cedar. In a four ounce bottle, I put a total of 25-30 drops of these oils and about a teaspoon of rubbing alcohol, then fill the bottle with water. Shake before each use.

At the natural foods store where I work, we sell two sprays with good reports. One is by Burt's Bees and the other is called Buzz-Away by Quantum. Both are made with all natural ingredients and are safe to use directly on the skin, unlike DEET, which I wouldn't put on my dog.

Taking a B-complex of vitamins has many health benefits and one side-effect is that bugs like you less.

Vitamin b-Complex......they hate the smell!! DO NOT OVERDOSE...regular amount suffices.

I have actually heard that Skin so soft products by Avon help keep them away.. Something about the scent or something , they don't like..It seems when i wear the lotion i don't get bit so maybe you'd want to give that a try! You can also get really soft skin from it so go for it! Try looking on ebay

Mosquitoes are attracted to heat and for some reason dark clothing. There are a couple of ways to be less attractive (to mosquitoes that is). The first one has to do with heat...if you have a heat source near you that is hotter than you are (say...a camp fire or a heavier sweatier friend) the mosquitoes will gravitate towards that. The second suggestion is to wear lighter clothing and if you don't mind going chemical...a little DEET works wonders. There is another suggestion that you may find a bit odd but it works...drink vinegar. I know it sounds gross (and in fact is) but it has to do with the acid and alkaline levels in your blood stream. Mosquitoes will steer clear of anyone who drinks vinegar (it's good for your immune system too). Hope this helps.
